I'm not in California, but I do have their insurance. Huge savings...Progressive was beating other major providers by almost $1k...but they kept ridiculously increasing even with my "diamond loyalty" discounts. Costco's deal with American Family Insurance/Connect ran $590 for a 6-month premium and included 2 cars with full coverage, + roadside assistance which is automatically included if you have the Costco Executive membership. Before I upgraded to Executive (for mortgage loan discount), I only had the roadside assistance on the older car (new one is included through maker). I didn't add the rental car option since I don't need it (two cars). This coverage has a $500 deductible for collision, and $250 for comprehension.
They were true to the word when something on the highway hit my car, I used their recommended repair place and only paid $250 and they fixed everything (bumper, wheel cover, re-calibrated the cameras). Just for comparison -- Progressive 6-month premium had increased to almost $1k for one car w/full coverage, the other liability only and a much larger deductible.
The insurance is the only reason I keep Costco...I'm not into frozen/convenience food and Sam's Club is much closer to me with cheaper gas. Also, if you don't renew your Costco membership, you can keep the Costco discount for your current insurance premium, and then 6 months after that. The Executive membership offers just enough of an extra discount (and the automatic roadside assistance) that it is worth the $60 more a year.

Needed to add 7th car. Connect couldn't do it because a JDM import.
They transferred us over to progressive agent(from connect)
$1100 less with 7 cars vs only 6 cars SAME LEVEL COVERAGES.
