Piece of advice for fellow SD'ers, buy subs used.
I've bought several used over the years: M&K, HSU, and SVS. Because they're old tech, they're reliable.

My last one was a mint SVS SB2000 for only $275 from Offerup.

Advantages:

You can audition before buying
You don't pay sales tax
You don't pay shipping
You'll be able to resell it for almost the same price

SVS is kind of a darling online, and they make excellent subs, but I prefer HSU especially if you're looking for 2 channel audio and not home theater (though HSU is more than competent for that too).

The idea of a subwoofer is to NOT hear it, and I have found HSU to be among the best at blending well. REL and RBH are the very best, but are incredibly expensive.

Man I've been looking at subs for months now and was leaning towards the VTF3. Think I'm realizing that I don't need that much power and may just need to jump on this.

Have two of these in my home theater and it's amazing. With the price of the SVS PB2000 pro being pretty high and the original PB2000 all but gone except for a few minutes into an outlet sale before they sell out, this is probably the best value in 12 inch home theater ported subs.

I would say the PB-1000 pro is closer in comparison, as it is 325w RMS and this sub is 350w RMS, while the PB-2000 bumps up to 500w RMS, which is a tier up imo.

Bought from them a couple of years ago. Sub still going strong. They were located in Anaheim, CA. If you're in the area, you can go to their studio for a listen.

I would add their trial time is 30 days and you pay return shipping.

100% agreed. They don't come out with new sub tech every year like they do with receivers so depreciation is almost flat after the first few years. Old ones from 5 years ago are just as good as new ones if well cared for and cost you less than half.

Great deal, but that was 6 months ago when they were clearing out the last of the v1 after the v2 was released. That model will never be available again and the v2 will probably never be that price, unless maybe they release a v3 and need to clearance the v2.

What's the best price we've seen for a MP 12 inch v2, 729?

I know inflation is a bitch but I bought this in March for 609. Also you have to pay 100 for shipping. 849 seems like a huge jump since March.

I have a PB-1000 pro on the way. Is this HSU much better for home theater?
