This is 100 times more comfortable than the stock joycons but not lacks Gyro aiming and rumble. Both deal breakers for me. I might be able to live without the rumble, but Gyro is a must to me (even if it took me darn near a year to get used to).
I've had this for a while now. I mostly used this to play Fire Emblem Three Houses and it was so much more comfortable than the Switch Joy-cons. Highly recommend if you do a lot of mobile gaming. It doesn't interfere with the Switch dock either
I personally can't recommend the split pad over the clones by various others that even have motion controls now. It doesn't sit flush with the switch, there's a small shelf/bumper on the upper rail edge of each. Over time they rock more and more as it makes the switch very wide, harder to hold without griping in, eventually flexing the switch joycon rails to the point where you need to replace them to get a constant connection. I've had to replace my split pad twice over the two years I used it and joycon rails, specifically the left one 4 times. It's an easy swap, but it's annoying. The kwydin or something clone sits flush and doesn't flex, is less wide, but still has a great set of improved sticks and grip, worse dpad though, has motion control etc. Been using that for over a year now with no rail replacements needed, no issues beside a l/r trigger spring failure 8+ months in. Fixed with a bit of glue (the plastic tab that holds the spring in on the inside broke, easy fix). While the clones aren't perfect, they stress the switch joycon rails far far less and are cheaper with more features.
I feel like I'd be more likely to use the Hori DPad joycon with a grip. You'd get the better DPad but retain gyro in games that depend on the right joycon for it.
I just bought a switch (hasn't arrived yet)and didn't realize how much joy-cons were. If I want 4 people playing mario cart, can one set of joy-cons be share by 2 players, or do I need 1 joy-con per player. Any recommendations for lower priced joy-cons?
