Ez ink or lin.kyo. Check if it needs tn 760 or tn 660 or something else

Agree with Shrilzer on the Lin.kyo, they've been super reliable for me too

None. Every color laser I have used is a pita... Uses color on b&w prints, and has fits with aftermarket colors.

We have 2 at work, one is a xerox office copier/printer unit.
Ah damn. I guess they figured out how to block aftermarket colors

If you wait until someone posts a SlickDeals link about these deals, you are going to miss out. You need to bookmark and check the Brother website everyday. All of these have very limited availability.

Oops, sorry. I didn't see "2395". Automatically assumed you were talking about the printer deal here. Yep, prices have become really ridiculous. Even this 2300d would often go brand new for this same refurbished deal, and this is considered FP in 2022.

wow! did the pandemic affect prices that much?? i got the 2395 on sale for $99 at best buy in jan 2020 and that was new, not refurb. now it's $219 new and refurb is $175!
Yeah. I work IT for a lot of places, with printers I'm seeing them 50% higher at a minimum. They're about double what they were pre-pandemic.

Yeah prices have been crazy. Combine pandemic supply chain issues with huge printer demand from people working from home and this is where we end up. I remember picking up a Canon basic 6000 series laser printer back in 2014 for $39.99, nowadays the street price is $160.

What's a good color laser that has decent generic ink?
I picked up the Brother HL-L8260CDW color laser over a year ago and use Va.lueTon.er for generic toner. It hasn't rejected any cartridges yet. I also looked at my receipt from a year ago the combo pack of all 4 colors was $44, and now it's $63. But still, $15 each for color laser toner...helluva lot cheaper than genuine Brother at $136.99....EACH color?! Crazy.

How much pages does a starter toner yield? I'm an occasional user so wanted to know how long would the starter last
Ha, the starter will be great until....the second you actually need it. Smilie A lot of them don't have the "toner is getting low...." notification, so it will literally just stop in the middle of printing until you replace the toner. I've had great luck with Lin.kyo generic toner and the toner is only about $10 each. I'd grab one right away just in case. You can always sell it later, these 2300's are tanks and people love them

How hard is this wireless setup to do ?
I used one of these routers or the equivalent from a few years ago, which runs <$30: gl.inet gl-mt300n-v2

These are based on a modified OpenWRT firmware, so it is easy to upload the vanilla OpenWRT firmware through the standard firmware update process. You need to download the firmware specific to the particular router you have, eg: https://openwrt.org/toh/gl.inet/gl-mt300n_v2

OpenWRT however is a bit complicated to use… it's not difficult to place your router into an unreachable state if you turn off the wrong services or so on (usually this is fixable by resetting the router with the reset button). On the other hand, it gives you quite a bit of flexibility.

Anyways, plug the printer usb into the USB port of the router and follow the directions listed here: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-us...nterserver

You should be able to do all the installation and configuration via the GUI ('luci'). I believe they caution that this doesn't work with all printers in practice, so I don't know how this goes with ones other than the 2140 we have.
