I love these ultra small form factor PCs, but this is hardly a deal. You can regularly find these types of PCs for just a few dollars more with twice the RAM and a usable drive size.

It doesn't look like it will support Windows 11 either:

FWIW, I used a nearly identical computer (OptiPlex 5050, same chassis, also in the micro form factor) a few years ago. It had the world's most annoying fan found in a desktop computer - it would spin up and down, depending on CPU usage, like on laptops only much more annoying as it was seemingly constantly adjusting the fan speed, rather than stepping through several set speeds. I don't know if they fixed the problem with a BIOS update, but I was so annoyed by it that I got rid of it quickly.

I greatly prefer the ThinkCentre Tinys - easy to service/upgrade, great ecosystem of accessories, quiet. I've bought several with same or similar specs as this one, as long ago as 2019, for well under $200.

These only use 8-10W for the entire system?! That's crazy low. Looking at my desktop PC, my tower must be using 400W+.

Is this OptiPlex a good deal? Is there a good mini PC closer to $100?
Measure it.

Unless you are mining crypto, a big no.

CPU on this even though is quad core when put up against N6005 it doesn't support UHD 4K. I had really throught about getting a mini after installing 400 of them for one our 13B client. They had Lenovo Rzyen Pro 5 Series. Pre-installed Windows 10 Pro in-house version. So the i5 is not on the list for Windows 11 but there are ways around that on my server here. I will not get into that as all my desktops here run Windows 11 Pro except my 2021 11.6 Gateway that is Windows 11 Home 64-bit Support. Mini PC saves on PSU but the cord brick is very huge. The other factor you got to think about these units are on 24/7 most corporations they are not selling USED for check prices. I have purchases systems used I ended up spending more to keep them running over the years. Would a ACER Chromebook do the trick for me now since all I wanted was something small that can handle 4K UHD and 1080p graphics. Stream my movies etc. to my 50-inch UHD. Target Chromebook is $99 bucks I have one those here already on my 55 UHD no problems. I got to remember next time not to link to an account that already using Google 1 Storage since you get 1 year free of 100GB. These tiny units should be cheaper most of them are pretty outdated. 32GB out of this unit for RAM SSD might be better choice for most.

This CPU is just about the most powerful one that can be used with a fanless cooler. Great deal if you're looking for a silent desktop/server setup.

Fanless? Silent?

Like most other Tiny/Mini/Micro 1L PCs from Lenovo/Dell/HP equipped with 35W TDP CPUs, this unit definitely has a fan, and while not necessarily loud, it isn't silent. Repasting and tweaking the fan curve can help, but as shipped, it can be a little annoying as the RPM hunts around.

The CPU has a low enough TDP to run with a fanless heatsink and is one of the more powerful ones to be able to do so. You can remove all of the fans in this PC and it should run without much issue. Didn't think my comment needed clarification but here we are.

I'm sorry but $200 for an old ass used PC like this is absurd guys.

You can get a modern $200 mini PC that is not only more powerful, but a lot more power efficient, and takes up a much smaller physical footprint to boot.

While I have no doubt that T series CPUs could be run fanless with a larger heatsink, are you really saying you have been able to pull that off in the stock 1L chassis this comes in? (Or were you incorrectly assuming this was the larger tower or SFF form factor version?) These micro MBs don't follow a standard form factor, so transplanting to a larger case would take some custom work. No need to be an a$$ about it.

Yes I just bought one of those, different seller and for $175. It came with an i5 6500 not the 35 W T variant but the regular 6500 65W processor, 1X 16GB ram, 256 GB Samsung NVME SSD (18000 hours on the SSD), 90 W power adapter a USB WIFI dongle, and a Wired keyboard and mouse.

Does Amex Business Platinum dell credit apply for this purchase thru dellreferbished.com?
Don't think so. The URL is completely different.

I've read that if its the Dell.com outlet then you're OK.
