I've never owned hart tools before, but I have owned Kobalt tools. Would not recommend, sockets are terrible. Imo harbor freight tools would be better.

someone who broke a socket and tried to get it replaced should share their experience.

In case of Lowes & HD, they replace just the broken socket INSTORE

Not a bad set, but I would recommend buying better quality sockets for common sizes individually if you plan to use any cheap set for auto repairs.

All it takes is one rounded off bolt to make your life miserable.

I go into Walmart on e a week to buy my cats food I always go check out the tools to see if anything is on clearance and I have never seen this set being sold for over $99 and at $179 that is laughable.
That said I did buy one a few months back because $99 is a decent price and I don't have any complaints about it
Always fun to see how double posts look when the person thinks their first comment didn't post 😂

I agree, but not sure of the best way to get extras of common sizes, any recommendations? I've seen smart extra bit sets for screwdrivers, do they have similar for sockets?

I'm kind of a tool addict and did a comparison last holiday season that compares this set with other sets that frequently go on sale:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zzkh62u....xlsx?dl=0

Spoiler: It's not a great deal. Most of the higher piece count in this set comes from bits (with lots of duplicates) and hex keys, the warranty is mail-in and probably not worth your hassle. I'm also not a fan of only having the 12pt sockets on the 1/2" drive and 6pt on the 1/4" and 3/8" - in fact, that's the opposite of what I like to have in a set. Bottom line, if you don't absolutely need a set right now wait until one of the better set assortments goes on sale.

I own several sets from Hart, Kobalt, Husky, Craftsman, HF and others and there are things I like and don't like about each.

My personal favorite for the assortment and lifetime in-store warranty swap is the HF 301 which I've owned for about 3 years now. It goes everywhere with me in my truck and the wide gamut of more rare sockets sizes and bits have saved the day many times when every other set that didn't include them would have let me down. The HF 225 and Husky 270/290 sets are also nice, and my decision point between those would be to go with HFs with their suitcase style case if you're going to move them around and the Husky with their pull-out drawer cases if they're going to stay put on a shelf.

You can buy them piecemeal from most brands, big box stores, Harbor Freight, etc.

One other tip is to get the impact rated versions.

They aren't as pretty, but even the ones at Harbor Freight are more durable than the standard sockets of more reputable brands while still being way cheaper.

This is $79 as of today. At that price it's hard to choose anything else.

Thank you for this insight! I was seeing how the HART compared to the Husky set that regularly goes on sale for $99. Usable warranty is definitely the biggest factor in my decision along with cost. Patiently waiting for the Husky set to come back down, but never thought to compare it with the HF set.
