Vets= Veterans , not sure if you're serious or extremely lame attempt of a joke.

Many service members sacrificed a lot, please show respect.

What would you use this for? Is it primarily to be used as a set top box to connect to your TV?

If didn't already buy the 256gb version a few months ago for $499, would definitely go with this at this great price.
I just bought the 256GB version for $599 two days ago, crazy they are the same price. Need to return and purchase this larger storage one now, unless I can get $100 back……

You're thinking this is a neo-version of a WebTV set-top box.
......technically this would make one heck of HTPC (or would it be more appropriated HTMc?)
...as some just mentioned it a Mac computer just hook it up to a display !!
It's the Apple version of these... [pcmag.com]

Can this be run similar to a NUC? I would like to use it to run Roon Core and have it powered on continuously. Not sure how efficient this is at idle.

If you got it at AAFES, call today and see if they will adjust. I've been successful in a previous price adjustment in addition to getting an expired gift card renewed. Haven't had much luck with CGX unfortunately.

The M1 Chips are supposedly very power efficient, 6.8W at idle and ~39W on load.

Thanks for the help, I just ordered this larger storage unit and will return (unopened new 256GB) the one shipped to me yesterday. This 512GB model is better, especially at $599

I've ordered and returned 3 (most recent was 3 weeks ago). Still an issue on some of them.

Literally couldnt move the mouse if something was downloading (bluetooth or logitech bolt)
I had that issue with my 2012 macbook pro. Apparently a decade isn't long enough to fix it.
