At one time there was an issue with bluetooth connectivity. Has this been resolved?
I had one last winter and never an issue. I have read of people who have solved the Bluetooth issue by getting rid of those USB-C docks that fit underneath the Mac mini. They interfere.

Is there any trick in place that non-military person can make a purchase?
Yes go ask your local military recruiter to sign you up.

Damn… why can't apple give more discount to men and women in service?
It's not like they go bankrupt providing it.

Wait… sd'ers hate military folks? Why tf the TD?

What would you use this for? Is it primarily to be used as a set top box to connect to your TV?
Even though it is a powerful computer, I have mine connected to my living room tv, I don't have a monitor. It is really cool!

Basically the same thing as the M1 MacBook Pro that I bought my wife?

Tempting to use as a desktop.

I tried that one previously but stuck with airmessage for some reason. Can't remember why. Probably because the max mini I have running it now is a dog. I'll check it out again.

For those worried about the Bluetooth issues, some people have issues still, some don't even encounter issues.

As for me, it seems to be ok, except when I walk about 10 feet away from the computer. The Bluetooth starts to have static and/or cuts in and out.

Also, I think having the 16 gig memory model is better than 512gb storage, but I know that is the one not on sale.

You can always add an external drive for storage, but that 8 gig memory is not upgradable. You are stuck.

I have seen my 8 gig memory model do the dreaded memory swap.

Only thing I have open is the memory status monitor (not sure what it is actually), 2 Firefox windows open (each window with 2 tabs open). Watch YouTube with reading yahoo finance at the same time.

"Non-DoD Federal Departments/Agencies as determined by local commanding officer."

Does this qualify all federal employees or just some? Confusing. I don't want to steal away a deal intended for vets and service men & women, but if I'm legitimately eligible I'd consider it.

Just saw SMS is supported in AirMessage but not Blue Bubbles... so may not be better for your use case.

Great price! I bought the 256GB version last year at Costco for $520. Hard to pass if you need a computer. Great and fast performance...M1 chip is a gamechanger!
