For ease of comparison across playset models, I have started to simply compare the total weight of package and it gives me rough idea of its size and build. My reference is the very popular yet not as expensive Backyard Discovery Skyfort ll set which weighs roughly 800 lbs at 1699$.. This one comes to roughly 350 lbs. Do what you will with this info but I've found the weight of the playset to be a good indicator of its size and heft.

Hope it helps.

Bought this last year, toddler loves it, and it took my not-so-handy husband and I a weekend and about 12 hours to assemble. Great quality though, and the twisty slide is a hit.

I have a similar swing set from Kidkraft. Very high quality and not too complicated to assemble but I would HIGHLY suggest getting some clamps if you don't own any to hold pieces in place while you secure them. There are many good videos on YT for assembly and other people's lessons learned

Kidcraft often supports BILT which is an app that guides the install process. Basically a virtual assembly manual with some benefits, allows zoom in, etc.

I just got the Boulder Bluff playset from Costco for $1400, waiting for site prep to do the install. BILT says avg assembly time is 17:30 hrs; I find that those assembly times often assume you're using wrenches for fasteners - but if there are many of a similar type/size, you can use a battery drill with torque limiter to make the process WAY faster.

I put up the Costco Yardworks 14x12' gazebo last weekend and couldn't imagine doing it without a drill and impact (for the lags). Yes you have to be careful not to crush the wood but it accelerates assembly so much.

Regarding Kidkraft itself, what are everyone's opinions on staining these? I'd think it would increase the longevity substantially.

Backyard Discovery is on BILT as well. Although I'm not sure your post was wrongly posted as a reply to mine.

Here's a tip: go on a website that starts with a guy's name called Craig. Type in the word "free". More often than not, someone somewhere wants to get rid of their old Rainbow (or other brands) swingset. The catch is you have to dismantle it and haul it away. But if you don't have $800 but are handy and have time in the world, that's the way to go. Also search for videos on youknowhere for people who have found ways to customize their swingsets for a lot less (think mini-hammocks and other bucket swings). Good luck!

YMMV here, but I agree it's worth a shot. Unfortunately in my area, used items have an asking price above retail. For this stuff you are way better off just buying brand new and saving $.

I really don't know what's wrong with people, besides an over estimation of demand since covid. As an example: in 2019 I was able to travel less than a mile and pick up a 10 inch miter saw (non-sliding) that came with a brand new 3 pack assortment of blades for $35. It's a low end brand, but it would still go for $75-$80 new on sale with no blades. Now in my area you are lucky if it goes on sale for $90 with no blades, and people are asking $80-$100 used. It's even worse when the tool is a Harbor Freight brand. It's always cheaper brand new with a coupon instead of what they are asking. The worst part is you know they bought the darn thing with a coupon years back for even less, and it looks like it was dragged through a sewer during a storm lmao.

I bought this for my son about a month ago -- same deal and compared to others, this playset had everything we wanted and some peace of mind from others commenting on its quality and durability. My son loves it and it made the many, MANY long assembling hours worth it. It recommends 2-3 people, but I had to do it myself and it took a solid 3-10ish hour days. There are a lot of parts; the set comes in 5 boxes. I have to say putting to slide together was the most frustrating part. Man, I felt like I was working on my Ford. It was just a pain. I WOULD recommend having someone help with the roof. It is light but just to be safe.

Kidkraft does an excellent job of replacing parts and answering any questions you might have too. In my dealings with Walmart, 2 of my boxes were missing and I was refunded for 1 of them (automatically, I don't know why). Walmart replaced the 2 boxes and 1 of the original missing box showed up. It was a complete set to another Kidkraft playset. Called Walmart again, and they advised me to keep it and made sure my others boxes arrived. In all my years of dealing with customer service, this had to have been the best. It is safe to say Walmart took care of me and Kidcraft took care of the parts missing from the other playset. Fricken spectacular.

I was just looking at the KidKraft in Costco last night for $1200. This looks to be very similar. Thanks!

Bought this same set during early Covid and it was a hit! Make sure you have power tools and some help as it does take some time to build.
