Why does a weight set have to be "beginner" at all? Look for something made of quality so you're not just tossing this aside when you're "done" with it. What a wasteful mindset.
Where does it say cement? Reviews are pretty positive
Lol you're right, they don't even tell you what the weight plates are filled with . They're definitely not iron though. First pictures looks like there plugs on the plates.

This one states "mixed with iron, mud, and sand,". So basically cement with a hint of iron (so they can say iron plates?)
LOL....why do you care the %? Yes pure iron would be thinner (for the weight) and stronger, but pure iron would be 2-3 times the cost. Metal shavings added to concrete are probably dirt cheap compared to casting iron into molds. This seems like a happy medium for beginner set..

You will wear out the cement weights in 1-2 years if you use them regularly. Iron lasts forever
After 1-2 years, someone can invest in something that exactly suits their needs once they have settled on a workout. After that time they will have outgrown the amount of weight as well.. This is an entry level starter kit, not something hardcore gym rats are training with every day. Silly to judge them similarly.

I'm not familiar with weights and probably have only used metal ones in gyms. This would be my first set for my small apartment. Is this a bad set for me? Seems like a very good idea to allow multiple equipments to shared the weights which i don't see alternatives. Both Walmart and Amazon reviews are very positive

I don't lol. I care whether they even mention the material or not, which they don't at all, which might be considered deceiving.

Are you serious? The same reason why people don't buy 3k bicycles...

I'm all for promoting movement for a healthier lifestyle. I'd totally use it if it was my first weight set. Lol my first weight set was a carry on bag loaded with books, so I'd have been happy with this set

Be mindful of the max weight you can have on one/each dumbbell. Cement weights are super fat.
