You can and should keep your kids in a five point harness seat for way longer.

I'm no car seat engineer or expert on the matter, but these are scary. Imo (again, not an expert in any shape), the lack of a strong rigid seat, this is just as safe as putting your kid on a backless booster seat. Side impacts are no safer, rear end frontal impacts can potentially hurt your child more as they're only strapped down at one shoulder.

As others mentioned, stick to a true child seat with rigidity in the seat in which your child sits.

Not offering these in adult sizes is blatant discrimination.

These are usually for infant and convertible car seats right? I've had my 6 year old in his Britax Boulevard clicktight convertible seat, but he's a little above the height limit (48") now, so I need to switch. It seems there are options for 5 point harness booster seats, but are those really worth it for booster seats and kids in the 6-10 range?

It is. Free entry and the opponents have to spend about $200k raising you. It's a sure thing, just takes 150,000+ hours to beat. Ultra HD the whole time.

Anyone have a recommendation for a traveling car seat ? I was hauling a graco 4 ever and Diono for quite a few trip. Wish i can find something less bulky and light. Bought a inflatable booster which works out decent

Really comes down to height as convertibles become uncomfortable for kids around 45"..., our oldest sized out of a convertible at 3, our youngest at 4. In both cases the shoulders maxed out so was unsafe for shoulder straps
My daughter was still rear facing at 4. It felt bad that kids were picking on her for it (they were all in boosters when she went forward facing) but it's all based on height and weight. She was always a skinny kid.

Is this good for a 5-6 years old? I need to get her a new car seat nd was looking at the greco 4EVER, but ah is too big to take full advance of all of it since she is over 40 pounds and that chair cost at least $200. Does it make sense to invest so much vs this one?
This is perfect for a 5-6 year old. Don't buy a forever seat just to use the booster function

A friend gave us their mifold and we use it for our 8 year old on flying vacations where we won't really have much time in a car. It's very different in that it brings the belt down rather that raising the kids up. Our kid likes it, but our friends kids refused to use it since they didn't like being so much lower and not being able to see out the window as much.

Each kid is different. My 8 year old made the transition at 5, my second made the transition at 4.5 my daughter who just turned 5 is about to come out of hers when she grows about 1-2 more inches because the straps will no longer be safe for her. So usually between 4-5.5 maybe longer.
