Quote from Ryan2010 :
This is inaccurate. Had both tablets and S8 is superior. The new Gen 1 snapdragon is significantly faster than the 765 in the s7+. Was worried I would miss the oled screen, but could barely tell the difference and I prefer a smaller form factor. ended up selling the s7+.
S7+ has an 865, not 765. The S8 shouldn't be that much faster. About 15% faster overall according to benchmarks. It's actually slower in 3D due to thermal throttling. It's manufactured on 4nm instead of 7nm (well, Samsung 4nm vs TSMC 7nm so probably more like 5.5nm vs 7nm), so power consumption is slightly lower. Meaning they reduced the heat dissipation package, which ends up hurting the Gen 1's 3D performance (it throttles harder).
https://www.notebookcheck.net/SD-...596.0.html

I suspect a large part of the difference you were seeing was the S8's 2560x1600 screen, vs the S7+'s 2800x1752 screen. The S7+ has to push around 20% more pixels. Though the reviews say Samsung reduced screen lag slightly on the S8 (I couldn't really tell on my S7+ vs S8 Ultra).
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_...-10336.php
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_...-11343.php

Main differences are the S7+ has an AMOLED screen vs LCD on the S8 (though high-end LCD has gotten good enough you're unlikely to notice except when viewing in dark environments, or extremely rapid motion). And the S7+ is nearly 2 years old so will only receive updates til August 2024. The S8 should be good til Feb 2026. Both devices get Samsung's new 4-year update support.

Quote from orangeslope :
I wanted the s8 over the s7+ because I was looking for a wifi 6 tablet.
S7+ supports WiFi 6. It doesn't support 6E (S8 does), but 6E routers are like $400-$700.

Quote from Biggie898 :
I just go the S7+ for $440 on a recent deal, can someone let me know if I should return and get this deal instead? (Using it primarily for gaming)
I'm not sure either tablet is best for gaming, but I got a S8 Ultra for piano sheet music so who am I to judge. Smilie

See my above comment about 3D performance throttling. A large part of the S7+'s better 3D performance will be canceled out by the higher number of pixels though. So I'd base the decision on OLED vs LED, and support til Aug 2024 vs Feb 2026.

Do note that Samsung's trade-in value for the S7+ has been $600 ($550 for an S8). So if you got it for $440 and wish to upgrade to an S8+, you may want to check if a trade-in deal gives you better value than simply returning it. Their deals frequently throw in a free keyboard cover. It and the stand are very nice (though they don't give much corner/edge protection). (Best deal was keyboard + max memory for free + heavy discount on headphones)

You can return the watch and keep the tablet and that's how most of Amazon bundle discounts works based on my attempts in the past
You say attempts, not indicating you had any success.

The watch sucks VS watch 3 imo. Maybe next year after many software updates it will be comparable to the 3 but as of now it's ehhh at best. Battery life is back to like Gen 1 status... Can't make it thru the day even doing everything to make it usable but more battery efficient. The only way I can make it till bed time is to charge to full at lunch. If I want to use it for the gym as well I instead set a reminder to charge to full about 3 pm and I'll be able to make it till bed time. With my watch 3 i could have always on display and make it nearly 2 full days with moderate use before it died, so 1 full day of heavy use was no problem at all
Same. My old Watch2 is better than my newer Watch4. Worst upgrade ever

This is actually a pretty good deal if you can return the watch. No trade-in required. I've been monitoring Samsung deals on tablets and stick vacuums for a year, and the crazy deals ppl use as the baseline are rare and unrealistic unless you have the right trade-in device and/or are one of the first few ppl to click it. There was a good S7 one late last or early this year, and a delusional poster referenced how you could get it $100 cheaper for $150 based on a deal months ago that a handful of ppl got. 6 months later, that guy never got the deal he was waiting for.

I've never gotten the advertised deal price of those unicorn deals as an EPP member, and I've seen A LOT more comments about how others didn't either. The big advantage of Samsung.com are the occasional $100 Honey CB offers on S7. None on the S8 so far.

Can someone try returning the watch once they get the 2 items? And see if the full discount still gets applied only to the tablets. And then post on here for an update? I don't have prime so it would take longer for the items to even get to me. I guess I can still pull the trigger and try it myself. But someone may already be doing this

I decided to try this. The tablet is scheduled to be here on Tuesday. Once I receive it I'll initiate a return and provide an update here.

Benchmarks shows that gen 1 is 20 percent faster than 865 if that's important

In all reality tho you could of got the s7+ for like 415-425 2 months ago which is a more superior tablet then this. I guess if u were going to buy the watch anyways and didn't wanna spend too much on a tablet then this isn't bad
Why is it superior

If watch can be returned while keeping the promotional discount, this is a great deal.

Has Amazon ever charged the difference for promotions like this? I think it's worth a try since Amazon returns are pretty easy too.

TYPICALLY, policies Generally state if part of a bundle and an item missing in return- they'll charge full price for item kept.
My gut instinct is this is a bundle packaged deal and LIKELY not work well if trying to 'pull one over' *Not that a legit return is ethically wrong, I've done far worse LoL...
I'm saying, untill/unless someone either
A) *KEEPS TRANSCRIPT LOG OF CUSTOMER SERVICE CHAT* And support says, yeah, you can return one and still retain the bundle % off per unit of 2 package deal...
B) Someone trustworthy personally initiates return and has actual return invoice showing watch returned, without Tab 8 and were issued full refund of watch, while keeping discounted Tab 8..
Without either of those 2, try, but be prepared to return both or recieve refund reflecting non bundled full price of Tab 8
