I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.
Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.
Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.
I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.
1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.
2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.
3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.
Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

So I end up paying 640 out of pocket . Still a lot . Will keep my s20 fe, love it
Problem is, he was already getting the Samsung elevated trade in value from the $200 for Note 8 vs. $90 without.
Same as you. . .fighting for something they were already giving you. . .and expecting more that isn't there. . .$400 is the elevated Samsung TIV promo value for S20FE, they were offering you that!!!
Click the links in the OP and wiki. . .and understand the deal before going in to store and demanding what isn't true!!! And please stop referencing SlickDeals!!!

Let me share my experience from my 3hr visit yesterday - I went to best buy and was told they could not double dip promos. Then I asked a different person to help after like 20 minutes of waiting. She helped me and eventually got everything done. I had to do exactly as the instructions on here said. Trade my phone into bestbuy for a gift card, then buy the new one using the GC and some extra $. I had a Note20 5G which I got a $600 gc for, a,d was getting the S22ultra 256gb in black. The first issue was it is not in shock, so they are shipping it to me and I am without a phone for a few days. No biggie. The other big issue is that the new phone was not ringing up at the promo price of $899, but instead rang up at 1199. The namaber could not price match for some reason, he said the system won't allow him to discount that much, so he ended up discounting it $200, and giving me a $100gc to bring it down to $899 which is what it was supposed to be. So basically I just had to pay the extra sales tax which was an additional $7. So in summary, I traded in my working Note20 5G and ordered S22Ultra 256gb and paid $369.99. I did have to activate on T-mobile, but I will probably cancel that when the phone gets here and only have to pay a prorated few days or something. I could have simply traded in my note 20 5g for a $600gc and bought anything else or even saved it for later. Something to think about. Maybe trade in a few for gcs and buy a TV or something else lol
