Your math is correct, but just know that some Best Buy wouldn't know how to process the enhanced trade in value correctly. I suggest you bring a print out showing the $450 trade in value, but even then, there is no guarantee that you'll get it.

I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.

Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.

FYI, you only get these prices if you activate the phone on the big 4 carriers.

When you go in the store to trade in, many of them will have trouble with the trade in value. They'll offer you whatever low amount they would typically give. You'll need to correct them and tell them it's a promo. Show them the webpage on your phone on the BestBuy site (go to any S22 product page and there's a blue heading above the price, click that).

Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.

I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.

1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.

2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.

3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.

Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

We're sorry, there was an issue processing your request. Please try again later.

Don't forget the $500 for the Z Flip 3, so more like ~$660 out the door.

yup got same deal, paid $142 out the door since my taxes are probably lower in my state.
In fact I went back and did another trade for my note 20 ultra which also qualified for 800.

no, the promo states $800 in store for z flip 3 and note 20ultra s21ultra etc.

899 for 256gb s22ultra so you are paying 100 difference and taxes.
that is if you best buy associate knows how to price match the phone to the 899 deal.

But if the Z Flip 3 is a new purchase as part of that other deal.... you still have to account for that. Yes, you get $800 trade in credit for it, but you still pay $500 for it in order to be able to trade it in (assuming it's not an old phone that was already had and was bought specifically within the last couple of weeks or so with the other promo to use to trade in towards the S22U).

So 160$ out the door after the trade in, plus the $500 it cost to buy the Z Flip in the first place. Or am I missing something?

ok I see what you mean, in my case, I purchased the z flip for $500+taxes but paid actually much less.

$500-235 (iphone XR trade) and I had another 235 in bestbuy rewards. so my cash paid for z flip was $31+ the XR which I bought for $130 from the SD XR deal months ago.

traded the z flip and paid $142 out the door for the s22 ultra 256gb.

total spent was less than $500 if you count the purchase of the XR, 235 in rewards and cash differences.

Here's my update.
Just got back from Best Buy where a knowledgeable rep was able to order a black S22 Ultra and a burgundy one. The black one was in stock so all he did was activate the sim and didn't even open the phone. The burgundy one was shipped to store so they can activate it. Picking it up Tuesday.
Used my two $800 gift cards and today there was no problem ringing up both of them for $899 each. I paid $365 for both out of pocket after using the gift cards.

I think whatever was the problem in their system the past few days might have been fixed.

Is a S8+ with a vertical white line on the screen acceptable for trade in? Screen not cracked though.
I'm the opposite. Got a big ass couple cracks and a few lines, and you have to double tap/turn on a couple times before it shows the screen LMAO

Doubt they would accept mine, that's for sure.

I went to store in SoCal. Item was not in stock (I was aware of this before I headed to the store). As many have said here, when he tried ordering he couldn't club them together in their system. Trade-in price would automatically make it $1299. He suggested to place the order today by paying $899. When the phone arrives at the store next week I can return and repurchase the phone along with trade-in. If they refuse to do Trade-in next week I shall just return and walk way.
I placed the order and expect to go there next week.

Hope this info helps someone who might be in a similar situation.

sounds like a bit of a gamble to me, luckily the rep I went through for 2 trades knew what to do, yes, phone not in stock but ordered it for me along with my trade, phone pickup will be in a week for both phones. It's definitely YMMV with certain stores, being many associates won't have the knowledge or be aware of the promos and how to work the system.

All I can say is good luck to all, just be polite and help them help you along if you can lol.

Success today! I got a S22U S256 ordered. Traded my Tmobile S20FE for $400. In WA they take tax on full purchase price $899. No issues with the $899 number. I had to leave my trade in on the spot and will come back next week Tuesday when the new Ultra arrives. Total cost $589, not a bad deal.
