I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.
Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.
Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.
I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.
1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.
2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.
3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.
Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

In fact I went back and did another trade for my note 20 ultra which also qualified for 800.
899 for 256gb s22ultra so you are paying 100 difference and taxes.
that is if you best buy associate knows how to price match the phone to the 899 deal.

So 160$ out the door after the trade in, plus the $500 it cost to buy the Z Flip in the first place. Or am I missing something?
$500-235 (iphone XR trade) and I had another 235 in bestbuy rewards. so my cash paid for z flip was $31+ the XR which I bought for $130 from the SD XR deal months ago.
traded the z flip and paid $142 out the door for the s22 ultra 256gb.
total spent was less than $500 if you count the purchase of the XR, 235 in rewards and cash differences.
Just got back from Best Buy where a knowledgeable rep was able to order a black S22 Ultra and a burgundy one. The black one was in stock so all he did was activate the sim and didn't even open the phone. The burgundy one was shipped to store so they can activate it. Picking it up Tuesday.
Used my two $800 gift cards and today there was no problem ringing up both of them for $899 each. I paid $365 for both out of pocket after using the gift cards.
I think whatever was the problem in their system the past few days might have been fixed.
Doubt they would accept mine, that's for sure.
