Great specs...but I won't ever buy Gigabyte again. Their warranty is non-existent...between Covid related supply chain issues and their entire system ransomwared, they will not take care of anything. Took 6 monthsto get graphics card RMA'd and one motherboard they "lost" and won't do anything.

Alternate experience.

I had a 3080 Aorus Master that I changed the thermal pads on and then it wouldn't boot. This was in the middle of the chip shortage and GPU mining craze. RMAd it and had a replacement in my doorstep in 4 business days with no questions asked.

I refuse to buy Gigabyte products until they do a complete overhaul of their business practices. From them knowingly selling exploding power supplies to non-existent warranty/customer support, they're probably the least consumer friendly computer/parts manufacturer.

+1 on Gigabyte RMA, i had 2x rtx card with 2 fans fail and i attempted to replaced it myself, i screw up on the thermal pad when I open up the card and then it won't boot.

open RMA and they straight up caught my ghetto thermal job and they still replaced it for me under warranty, worse to worse they charge a small fee for the repair but still extremely reasonable

Very good price for the spec. I'm tempted but read too many bad experiences with gigabyte. This will be my first gigabyte laptop if I bite.

Where do you read those comments? Just two negative comments above.

I have a white 1080Ti Gigabyte GPU mining for 24 months with zero second break and I think I bought it from a guy who mined with it. Besides being loud, its great.

Used Gigabytes warranty like 6ish years ago, called into the number was on hold for 10 minutes got some dude, emailed me all the info, I emailed him all my info. Sent the mobo out and got a replacement in about 5 business days. Overall pretty straight forward. So I would buy again, prior to that have had a few graphics cards and mobos and never had a issue with them.

My worst experience with any company has and always will be MSI (also 6ish years ago), if you get a good GFX card great, if you get one that fails get ready for a nightmare. I went through 4 RMA's cause they kept shipping me refurbished cards that were complete junk, one was even DOA on arrival. Also no it was not my computer killing cards, after the 3rd RMA they still refused to send me a new product and wanted to send me another refurb, I said fine. Throughout all these swaps after the second failure I also bought a EVGA card, I installed that in between downtime worked like a charm. After the 4th failure I installed the evga and it ran for over 2 years before I sold it and also sold the 4th RMA untested on ebay.

Moral of the story MSI is great when it works, but their after purchase support and their refurb items are complete trash and I would never buy another card from them unless it was a killer deal. Then I would make sure to burn it in for 48 hours to make sure I did not have to return it.

I remember these at black friday $1800 - $2000. They've been going down like $200 every month. Wouldn't trust the open boxes though, someone can return it without the video card. I've gotten a 512gb drive when I ordered 1tb from best buy before. People do a lot of returns fraud and it ends up being passed to the next consumer rather than bestbuy owning up to being scammed.

This is a laptop.. I could see that fraud occurring in a desktop, but seems strange for a laptop to have that issue

Well just ordered one, basically the best all around specs i've seen for the price. 15 days to return so why not. If this doesn't impress me then I guess i'll just save up for a Asus Zephyrus 15 inch. Probably will settle for 3060 if this feels too bulky.

New to gaming laptops - why is this the most specced out for the price?

This is a great deal. Ignore the haters. When you get a $1600ish laptop for $1000 you should be buying the warranty anyways.

Mainly has to do with the graphics card, you rarely see laptops with 3070s at this price range. It's open box of course but Best Buy has a very straightforward return policy so you can try it out risk free. Also the fact that this has 1TB storage, 99Whr battery, i7 processor, and high refresh rate screen make it very appealing despite its generic design. You would be easily paying $500 more something similarly spec'd.

Repped. Thanks! Now the main problem is actually finding a store that has the excellent conditions in stock…
