It is a zippered cover. You can take out to repair or replace with a standard twin air mattress.
I throw a fitted sheet over top to keep clean and use a regular sheet to sleep when it is too hot for your sleeping bag. The whole thing is bulky, about 2/3 the size of a 10x10 canopy bag. So make sure you have space in your car for it.

Not sure how this item has received so many positive reviews. I can't imagine how an air mattress attached to a foldable cot via permanent sewn fabric is a good idea. I've never had an inflatable mattress last more than two seasons before leaks cause losing air - seems like a lot to spend on disposable product. This is pure speculation on my part.

We had a Serta inflatable, the kind with an integrated pump. Used it two times and an integrated valve failed letting the air going in back out. Went back to the arerobed with a modified battery inflator so it can fill from a generator. Thinking about this one bit the aerobeds still work.

Does anyone know if I can fold out one side of the legs and not the other side? Or does it need to fold out to flatten the frame?

You're laying on an air mattress. Even if the frame has some sort of bumps as you seem to be implying, the air mattress should easily insulate you from them unless you make it ridiculously firm (at which point you risk creating leaks in it anyway). The last time this was posted, I read through the reviews and the only real complaint was that it was noisy, which one clever reviewer solved by inserting thin pieces of cardboard where frame pieces rubbed together.

From what I read the last time this was posted, I'm gonna say it needs to be completely set up because the frame relies upon interlocking parts to distribute support for the weight being put on it

I bought it for $102 on the last frontpage deal. I wonder if target would price match.

"Repair or replace" is the inevitable issue with any air mattress. Thank you for confirming any standard air mattress will fit, I had a suspicion this was a proprietary design that would require repair over replace - because who here is actually patching their leaky air mattress - color me lazy/skeptical.

I do use and recommend the standard Coleman military cot but it requires a certain level of physical leverage to set up, this frame may be a better option for some - my above opinion is based on experience - that any air mattress will fail.
