We had an older version of this set. It held up for over 5 years with some care.

First thing we did was seal the wood. This is not pressure treated wood. It's just stained. We added a coat of poly right away and that really helped it survive. Maybe 3 years later we re-stained and sealed the wood again with minwax and a layer of poly over it. That got us another 2 years or so before it was decided it had served its purpose.

I'm fairly handy and this took the better part of a weekend building it alone. My wife helped a bit here and there, but working essentially alone it took at least 10 hours to build. It really helps to use a drill/driver.

I added some cedar planks around the bottom under the deck to make the sandbox. The sides as they are don't allow for much sand. That was quite popular when they were really little. Later, we enclosed it and made a fort. Many Nerf dart battles were held and the fort proved worthy many times.

For the price, great Swing Set.

We live in San Diego, so we don't have crazy storms or huge winds for the most part. We do have lots of sun.

I have this set. My 3 and 7 year old have enjoyed it. Assemble and re-tighten hardware every few months. My 7 year old is 46lbs, when he swings hard he can pull up the anchor stakes a little.

Thanks! sounds like I should pass on this. I've 2 and 4 yr old, so looking to buy something and use for another 5 years.

If you can, bend about 6 pieces of 18" rebar into J-hooks and stake it to the ground at both ends and the middle. And you can always Locktite the fasteners if you don't want to retighten frequently.

Weather exposure will always be a factor in longevity, too, so 5 years may be asking a lot if it's in direct sun/wind/rain/snow and you aren't willing or able to seal/paint it regularly. Of course, "heavy duty" play sets are also closer to $2000 and up.

Hey, we had a set very similar to this made by the same brand-and the first storm that we had that came through with stronger winds completely tore it apart despite anchoring it in the ground deeper than recommended. I want to buy another one, but I would probably spend my money on something better. Trying to save devastating events to kids. 😬

I bought this when it went in sale in May for a little bit more than it is now. It is a smaller set which is perfect for my child. The cross beam for the swing is about 6.5 ft (i didnt measure). It took me around 8 hrs to put it together, but i was taking my time and didnt have to reassemble anything. The "chalk" board is pretty crappy and just a tarp but I think its pretty good for the price.

I bought this from way fair at a higher price. It's a good product and does the job. The wood quality is not the best and some of the pieces don't allign but you can proceed with that minor quality issue. The biggest problem is that the assembly took me around 15 hours.

My kid just want to go to play ground. She don't care if I have one or not in the back yard. She gets super excited if I said, let's go to the park. It's free and enjoy the walk there.

I bought one last deal. Wood is about the quality you would expect. Hardware well organized and machined cleanly. It's been up for a month now and still looks and plays great. Definitely recommend for the price.

If you want something that lasts, get a metal one from a brand called lifetime. They do cost a lot more but it will last you for years without any maintenance. Plus you can flip them for a good amount. For the wooden sets you would be begging ppl to take them away from your yard after they start rotting in a few years.

Bought this during last sale. Except assembly to take an entire day. But, it's been great for my 3.5 year old. I wouldn't recommend it for kids older than like 7/8 really. But I've gotten up on it with her, have swung lightly. No issues!

Agreed with others assembly is a long process and critical nothing is missed or you could have issues with the set. I would not recommend assembling without a power drill tool. You will need several 'heads' including hex for your drill so be aware.

Very critical all 4 stakes are driven into the ground deeply as instructions ask. With the hard dirt I have in Socal driving the stakes took as long as building the set unfortunately even with the help of much water.

But extremely happy with the results after assembly the kids love it. Incredible for the price.
