It's tempting to use these deals to stock up on Apple GCs to buy MacBooks or iPads, but I've had to pass because then you're giving up any purchase protections or extended warranty benefits from your credit card. But this is still useful for monthly iCloud or App Store charges.

In the past, I have bought 3 $100 gift cards in 3 separate transactions and received $30 as 3 separate $10 target GC.

I'm not sure if you stood at the register after purchasing and entered it into your Apple account that you would have time before it said it had already been used …. Very risky from all the threads I have read here

Question: Is this one $10 Target GC per $100 spent? Or just $10 regardless of spend, but over $100?

$10 Target gift card Max, even if you spend more than $100 on Apple gift cards.

Hm… is that the "Limit one promotion per guest," that the ad has?

Apple changed the design. You physically need to pull a non replaceable strip that tears to get to the card that has the code on one side and the cool free sticker.

I bought 4 x $25 cards and redeemed 2 and left 2 cards and redeemed one recently and had no problems.

Also you can buy more as others said if you do in separate transactions.

Last time this deal came around the issue I ran into wasn't that it was used, but rather there was a manufacturing defect where the serial number on the gift card inside the packaging didn't match the packaging that was activated outside. So when I tried to redeem the card it kept showing up as invalid / unactivated.

Clearly Apple's fault, but no amount of calling and trying to convince them would they help - they claimed they couldn't do anything about it so I would have to work through the retailer (called them probably 4 different frustrating times). I guess it makes sense Apple agents have no power, to prevent fraud, but it felt wrong for Target to be penalized for something that was clearly Apple's issue.

The Target B&M store manager wouldn't take it back either (read that other SDers were able to exchange them in store), and instead made me call target customer service instead.

Took another 3 or 4 calls to Target CS before I got someone competent enough to understand the issue and help me work through their 3rd party gift card vendor, and another week before they finally decided to issue me a refund. Insult to injury they deducted the $10 target card gift card from the refund, so all in all a waste of several hours of my time and a boatload of frustration for nothing.

I want to chip in here seeing you were downvoted. I had a very similar experience. I picked a random card, reviewed the sticker and pack, purchased with my phone out to scan. It was empty, and Apple confirmed it was supposed to have $100 to spend. Target was useless, but as you mentioned I was one of the lucky ones… I refused to leave the manager's station for an hour until he agreed to talk to the Apple rep I took an hour to convince to help, who said she'd help if Target would confirm… some stuff I don't know. The manager was just a kid, so who can blame him for not cooperating.

As a one time courtesy he watches me buy another card with Apple on the phone and it worked. I wasn't angry with either party and knew the risk of fraud. Just didn't want to leave the store in defeat less $100 like a j@ck@ss.

I'd bought several this way the same day previously, and they were fine other than the manager was angry I went over my promotion limit or whatever.

People should know anything but the eGift is a risk. People sell the Apple security stickers and packs on all sorts of marketplaces. Whether it was a package flaw or fraud, I was almost out $100 for a fun Sunday afternoon.

same here a couple of months ago. Purchased a single $100 gift card and scanned it right there after the checkout. It was not valid. Went to the returns counter and was told to select another card. Not valid also. Chose two $50 dollar GCs and both were junk. I stayed until I received a good card after two more extra tries. It was ridiculous. Careful if you're going in to buy it in-store. Mine was a SoCal location (Rancho Cucamonga).
