I put my sim into an unlocked iPhone 4 for 2 days now. The signal is showing 3G. But so far no promo for me yet. Only have that normal "up to $400 trade-in value" promo which my iPhone 4 only given $100.

Still waiting for $430 promo to popup..
Just chat with them. They'll do it.

Frown I think I screwed up then. There is conflicting information out there. Hopefully a chat with CS will undo the damage.
No, you're ok. Paying off EIP early has does not affect the monthly credit promo. Instead of offsetting the monthly cost of the EIP, the credit will be used to reduce your monthly bill. Trust me, I have paid off all my EIPs, and the sum of all the promos has reduced my monthly bill for 4 lines to $4/month.

they count it as a regular upgrade but it's a bonus trade in value if you have a 3g device which is practically worth more than a vast amount of other trades in devices such as up to iphone 11 only trades in to about $350

iphone 5 is now a $430 which is crazy

the main requirement is to obtain a rare 8 year old phone and whatever phone you upgrade to will be pro rated

the maximum credit per month as it states is $17.92/month x24 months

if you get anything else above that then you pay a difference

only catch is it's locked to t-mobile until it's paid in full but if you pay it off early then you void the rest of the credits over the remaining 24 months
This isn't true. I've paid off every phone early, watches too and I still get the credits afterward.

Like I said, there is conflicting information. My guess is both answers are true, depending on too many factors, mainly the promo fine prints. Also T mobile may changed the rules recently.
I am chatting with TM right now to see what they can do.
Edit 1 : Paying off the device should not cancel the remaining credit : https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...6%20months).
How Recurring Device Credits (RDC) work

To receive Recurring Device Credits (RDC), you must purchase your device on EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) and meet any other requirements of the promotion.

You may have one Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo per line at a time. To get a new Recurring Device Credits (RDC) promo and keep your current credit, you must pay off the existing EIP first.

If you pay off your EIP early, you'll continue to receive the promised Recurring Device Credits (RDC) as an account-level credit through the remaining months of the promotional credit period (up to 24 or 36 months).

Edit 2 : Chat with TM

Im sorry to hear about that.
Let me check here if we can cancel your payment and reinstate your installment plan, please hold on
Thank you so much for patiently waiting.
We are trying to process refund for the payment you've made as well as to reinstate your installment plan, it shows that the system is on the process for provisioning time to set up for the changes made on your account, will that be okay to provide me 24 hours to work on it?

it's not costing you any more money; might as well wait until you actually need a reason to chance losing the credit such as a few months left of service or needing it to be unlocked for other carrier

I pay it off early then get it unlocked. And I still get the bill credits afterward. Phones, watches, every device I've ever financed with T-Mobile.

Guys, if you do not see anything, my suggestion is to call T-Mobile and ask if you are eligible for offer P038.

Thanks, this advise worked for me!! Cheers

nice to have an almost zero bill.
but paying off phone in full early vs waiting the 24 months, whats the difference - either you pay upfront and get the credits back over time or just have the monthly fee and credits balance each other out over time. at end of day, same amount coming out of your pocket.

Saw this on my account, did one order. Then tried to do another one with another line a day later and the offer is gone. I guess they're limiting it in some form/fashion?

I think the trick to this is that you can't pay it off too early? I usually let the installment plan "settle" on my account for 1 - 2 bill cycle before I pay it off.

This is how I've been doing it with mine and I've continued to receive bill credits. My bill is ~$20 for 8 voice lines.

There is no difference, you are right. If I don't need to, I don't pay it off. But I've sold or traded phones so I paid them off. We also travel overseas, so some of them have been paid off to unlock so we can use a prepaid sim card.

Thanks for the post. As long as you have a qualifying device. Do the following

1. Login into your account
2. Goto shop
3. Choose iPhone SE (if it gives a popup, select add a new line/device option and not the upgrade device option
4. Follow through the steps. ( if you already have a phone with tmobile on that line, just select your phone line and instead if replace your current device select trade if a different device)
5. Sign EIP, review order and done.
6. Once you get the device you can then ship your trade in device.

Hope this helps.
