Great price but I am not a fan of this flavor/roast. I like the crema ones a lot better. But if this flavor speaks to you, price is worth it.
i've blended these (lavazza) beans with starbucks french roast beans in 50-50 ratio to resolve the issue you mention with good results for espresso.
I bought this last time it was on sale. It was close to the expiration date and the coffee flavor was terrible.

My favorite 3: Peet's, Peet's, Peet's. Ha. Fun aside, since I'm close to Emeryville, the coffee we can buy is usually within a few days of roasting.

you weren't talking about me. This is the first time i've ever mentioned it. I don't really care if people buy it or not. I've bought Lavazza for years and it has only happened to me with Crema E Aroma. Thought it was a fluke the first time but when it happened a second time i stopped buying it. Never had an issue with the other kinds of Lovazza. I have a Jura coffee maker that is quite expensive, not willing to blow a grinder on that. But it someone has a cheap grinder and doesn't care- it makes a solid cup of coffee.

Are the rocks black? Guess I'm going to start sifting the beans.. Maybe costco buys the rock-free variety 😂
Greyish black and very small. It was only in Crema E Aroma, twice in separate bags, never had an issue with the other Lavazza flavors.

For those of you with a Costco Membership, this is currently marked for clearance in store. I paid $8.97 per unit in store for 64oz bag.

hey if people don't care they don't care. But maybe my post will prevent someone from destroying a grinder on their 2K Jura coffeemaker. There's a reason people are reporting stones with Crema E Aroma, and not with other Lavazza varieties. I buy Espresso Italiano and have never had an issue with it.

Not great. I don't even call this a good roast. It has a sour taste to it. The beans also are more on the dry side, not much oil on it. It's not expiring soon, but end of the year. I'm debating on throwing the rest of it (more than half the bag) or just mix with another great coffee bean so it's not wasted.

Rule of thumb, you get what you pay for.

If you like Portland roasters, then the roaster that sits at the top of the food chain in Portland is 'Heart Roaster'. You can try 'Proud Mary' or 'Coava' or even 'Water Avenue' but none of these will even come close. Heart roaster does charge an arm and a leg for their beans, well if you want Hermès luxury, you're gonna have to pay.

Nah, keep on, I appreciate it. Haven't had any issues myself but it only takes one time to screw the grinder up and doesn't take much work to check, especially if they are smaller than the beans like you say, I'll just toss them in a zip lock and shake and see if they are at the bottom before using them.

Rule of thumb, you get what you pay for.

If you're making espresso, sour is probably under extracted. Either you need to lower the grind size or run more water through. With more water, yes it'll get more watery, heading toward Americano rather than a full body espresso, but that's the only way it'll taste good. If it turns bitter you went too far with the grind size / water amount, dial it back.

For other types of brewing you can try to use hotter water and brew longer.

Also not expiring doesn't mean much compared to how you keep the beans. Keep them air tight with as little air as possible inside, and don't get them wet, minimize humidity - some people freeze them. Works okay if you're fast at getting them out. The cold condenses on them fast.. Actually that's good for the espresso, if it's right before you make it, but bad for the ones put back in the freezer.

Depends on the sourness. Most noobs coundn't distinguish the extract from strawberries or raspberry or orange. That citrus tasting notes is a feature not a bug.
