Man, I remember when they'd practically be giving away these Echo Dots. You'd make a purchase at Best Buy or Amazon and they'd just give you one for free lol

Yep, or the extremely good deal for like $10. They have a pretty huge customer base with Alexa now that they don't need to pressure people into it anymore. People love good deals (I'm sure everyone here does... Wink ), and getting one for free or super cheap was something you did just because it was a great deal and sounded neat. Now, people just need one to add to a different room or to upgrade an older one.

There may be better deals on these for Prime day. If they still do it in the summer. Not a bad deal though if you really need it and want a plug.

To be fair, the tech has come a long way too. Usually when we get newer devices I demote older ones to less-used rooms (like a garage).

I was able to get one for free a while back just for trying Amazon Music Unlimited (so technically it cost me $8-9)
It's the older version, but I still use it everyday for turning lamps on/off and random questions that I don't feel like Googling to find the answer to.


But I'll definitely say that after having one for a couple of years I can't imagine not having it

I have to agree with you there. My echo isn't going through new wi-fi yet but I still have it plugged in and every so often I will be having a conversation with a friend ; never even saying " Alexa or Wake" and she/it will make a comment to our conversation. Now how is that possible when the speaker is plugged in for power only, not connected to my Amazon account or hooked up through my wi-fi???
NOW THERE IS something to think about, YES??
