I have a pair of high heels that are uneven. Would this work to trim one side to make the heels even?

plastic gears, underpowered, you are better off spending a bit more

I've cut slices so thin, I couldn't even see them.

The prices have gone up considerably since I last bought one.
I bought this version
https://www.amazon.com/BESWOOD-Ch...B01AQH636Q
At the time it was under $150. This particular unit has a stainless steel gear.

Most of the versions you see these days are garbage due to the fact that they are all gear driven and the gear is made out of nylon or plastic. This gear (which is pivotal to the movement of the blade) is highly likely to wear out within the first couple of uses. The average person using these slicers will use it maybe once every couple of months and by the time the gear wears out after a few uses, the return period has closed. It is not possible to even buy a replacement gear because they do not sell one. You could theoretically 3d print one but just not worth the hassle. These cheap units also have very low wattage specs and get too hot to run properly after about 15 minutes.
What is really funny about this one is that in the amazon listing they have a cuisinart and a waring version and if you look at the pics they are the exact same unit.

TLDR: Look for a slicer with a stainless steel gear. The higher the wattage the better also (it will be able to run for longer periods without heat buildup)
