One thing to note with this offer is that you can claim the 80,000 points with this and then downgrade the card to a Double Cash in a year. Effectively giving the Double Cash a 800$ sub
1) Meet spending requirement on Citi Premier card
2) Earn 80,000 point sign up bonus
3) Downgrade Premier to Double Cash or Custom Cash before you're charged with another annual fee
4) Points balance should carry over from Premier to your downgrade card

I just checked my thankyou account. Cash redemption is only 0.005 per point. Too bad for preferred I guess. Maybe this premier card is worthwhile
Redeeming for cash is never a good deal.
I redeemed 160k TYP in 2021 for roundtrip tickets to asia in business class. That's worth about 7000-8000. The 80k points are worth about 3500-4000. IMO one of the better ways to use those points.
Good for you. Yes I know travel is way better than cash. Just trying to understand $800gc or cash, since all thankyou points are not the same value depending on which citi card is associated.
Does citi rush ship card next day after approval, and does it track 4K spending like chase to see progress of 4K?

what does it mean " Effectively giving the Double Cash a 800$ sub"
Thankyou point has always been less than 1c for me. I've had citi thankyou card forever, only redeeming gift cards on sale. Not sure how others are getting 1c per point, maybe premier has better option for redemption.

I tried using my points as a statement credit and the value I saw was $0.008 per point, not $0.010. So only 80% of the full credit. Was this a recent change?
I didn't do the transaction, is there still some way other than buying a GC to get the full 1-cent per point value? Thanks.
I checked again yesterday and this time it showed $0.01 per point for both statement credit and deposit to my checking account. I chose statement credit. Seems odd if their exchange rate fluctuates like that, but $0.01 was what I got the very first time I used points (on the original $800 award).
That's really strange for the same card! Mine is a different problem. I actually just got this pop up window saying the following-
Redemption rates, ways to use points, reward sales and special offers may vary depending on which Citi credit card you have and may be different from those shown prior to signing on. We encourage all members to sign on to thankyou.com to view your redemption rates and redemption options.

They never can seem to get these credit cards to our post office box. Post Office doesn't deliver to our house. Called and told Citi and they still didn't get the cards to us. Done with them!
Can the card number or some virtual form of it be seen immediately after getting approved?
Or do you need to wait for the physical card in mail before you can put any spend on it?
I got the virtual number as soon as I got approved online and the physical card took about a week to arrive.
