I have the $300 per year plan with 8GB data and I've been on the phone with customer service. They wont change my data to 16GB. I was on the phone with them 35min to argue. I asked for a supervisor and they hung up. I'm not giving up though.

I am already on this plan but started it in March 2022 but with 8 GB data plan. Is it possible too start the new 12 month period from March 2023 instead of immediately? Has anybody been able to work that out with customer service?

TIA

If only this plan included true 5G support... because other than the base unlimited AT&T's prepaid plans have the same network priority as their post paid plans.

Even without the 16GB promo, the wording on the website always looked like the $300 is charged right away, but it isn't. They only charge a few dollars to send the SIM card and will charge the rest when you activate it. However, the trick is to use a credit card issued by a bank that lets you lock the card. Lock your card right before you activate the SIM, and the $300 charge will decline. You can also order the SIM using a Visa gift card that has a small balance, so the $300 will never be approved. You then call customer service and read the gift card numbers to the rep. Sometimes you can still manage to setup your online account and enter them yourself.
all these machinations... you don't seem to value your time so much. I'd rather just pay the small difference and be done with it, easy peasy nice and easy.

So for current my month to month prepaid users, Can you let your service lapse for a day, then sign up for this deal. Or is it strictly for people who are coming from another provider or MVNO to AT&T prepaid and require a SIM + plan?

That's a bad idea considering those B.S. rules about Prepaid (non-refundable); a year from now, they might have a 24gb/month $300 annual plan that you won't be able to take advantage of. I got the 8gb/month $300 annual plan just over a month ago, and the AT&T "Social Media" manager denied me any request to upgrade to this new plan.

It should be as easy as giving someone "credit" towards a different prepaid service, and just pay the difference; wireless service is not a physical item I've used/damaged and want to return, I'm not looking to switch carriers or take advantage of them, I just want a better deal than what I got 1 month ago... but those are the rules I guess.

šŸ‘ I'm on the $300 per year plan with 8GB per month and I don't think I ever went over 8gb, even with watching youtube videos and such. 16GB is crazy.

New customers only. If you let your plan lapse you will lose your number. You will need to port out to another provider and then back in if you want to keep your number (not sure if there is a cool down period). So much for existing customers get the same deals as new ones like they have been advertising. Data caps on phone plans will be a thing of the past anyways soon once 5G is expanded more. They can use throttling to control speeds if needed for congestion.

We are in the time period when people use to pay for limited number of text messages but that quickly went away, same is happening with data caps. I have a feeling the pending recession will help with that transition as these companies race to the bottom when consumer spending dries up.

If I use a credit card to pay, how much taxes and fees in addition to $300 for the initial setup? Thanks!

I'm still on the Walmart At&t Prepaid 8+17gb plan which I get for around $37.00 per month. I only use about 5gb out of the 25gb each month so this is tempting. Just not sure if I feel like jumping through a few hoops to get this 16gb plan.

This AT&T plan is better in several ways:
- priority over other mvno
- some (not 100% of postpaid) domestic roaming
- Mexico and Canada roaming
- hotspot
I was curious and spoke to an AT&T store in Buffalo. You're eligible for the plan even if you live permanently in Canada or spend a lot of time there. While in Canada you connect to Rogers towers, which is ideal.

This is always YMMV. In my neighborhood, AT&T is much better than Verizon. T-Mobile is useless here. It mostly depends on which towers you're closest to.

When you purchased this plan online, they request for credit card payment and cannot be gift card. They do charge tax for some states.
I read people just give the Visa card with $1 balance so they cannot charge the full amount so it can be paid later with gift card.
When starting out they always require the first year be paid via a credit card. After that you can use gift cards.

It renews with auto pay and you stay on the plan. However mine renewed with previous 8GB data and they won't adapt my plan with their new 16GB data (so far) Frown
You have to make sure you load gift cards onto your account for the full amount before the due date of the 300. Make sure to max your saving with the gift card sales on target to load the cards within 3 months of your renewal date because the 50 dollar cards only have a 3 month expiry once you load them on your account. They last forever if you just let them sit in your email until you are within that 3 month period. Once your renewal date comes it will just zero out your account balance and you will be golden for another year.
