I have the $300 per year plan with 8GB data and I've been on the phone with customer service. They wont change my data to 16GB. I was on the phone with them 35min to argue. I asked for a supervisor and they hung up. I'm not giving up though.

Honestly it isn't about the total amount, it is about how the plan is misleading. If it was listed as 8GB + 8GB bonus, it would still be a good deal and I'd jump on it regardless, but it isn't advertised that way. That's all.
Honestly, where does it say that the entire 16gb rolls over a month to make it 32gb?

Why not use Redpocket instead?
RedPocket can disconnect your service anytime without a notice once you start using your phone a bit longer say for work conference calls that run an hour long or longer. They deem it as "Excessive usage". I have experienced this first hand where my service just stopped working and disconnected when I was on a call with my boss...pretty ugly situationMad....data is a whole different story where it works very intermittently. It is for someone who rarely makes/receives calls and almost always you will have to dial twice to make a call for some reason...anyway the list goes on...Good Luck!!!

It doesn't. It says the plan is 16GB, and any unused data is available to rollover. Just like on the previous 8GB plan, if you didn't use that 8GB, it would rollover to the next month, giving to a total of 16GB. I don't think it is a stretch to expect it to work exactly the same - but now we know it doesn't. Here is how the "legal stuff" reads (underlined pertinent parts for quick reference):
  • Data: Includes 16GB high speed data. After high-speed data is used, speeds are reduced to max of 128Kbps for the rest of 30-day term. International data roaming may be reduced to 2G speeds. See att.com/broadbandinfo for details on our network management policies. If 16GB data allowance is depleted, a Data Add-On for use in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada is available for an additional charge (3GB for $20, 1GB for $10) and is good for 30 days.
  • Mobile hotspot: Use is allowed.
  • Rollover Data®: Unused high-speed data from your plan rounds up to the nearest megabyte (MB) and carries over for one 30-day renewal when your plan renews on time. Unused Rollover Data automatically expires after one renewal period, or with any plan change (such as changing data amounts, cancellation, or balance expiration). Rollover Data is used after your monthly high-speed plan allowance or any Data Add-On.

So much for trying to sign up with a Mastercard gift card. Got this message at checkout:
"Sorry, but we can't accept an AT&T Gift/Promotion Card for payment. Please provide a different payment method and try again."

What other methods can I use to get through the sign up? None of my current cc allow for virtual numbers anymore and paypal got rid of the key feature that also did this. Not sure why my mastercard gift card with low balance was rejected. anyone?
just go buy an $25 Visa gift card from the store, use that, then use the card to pay for lets say groceries once you go shop..

NOT true, you can start with gift card immediately, i just did, here are the steps:

• Used a "Generated Card" Number from my bank (citibank) when ordering the SIM card.
You can also use a gift card with balance less than $300 - it will bounce the $300+tax and fees charge anyway. NEED TO HAVE ATLEAST $1

• You dont get Charged ANYTHING untill you pop the SIM into the phone.

• Cancelled the "Generated Card" immediately after the order went thru.

• Received the SIM card about a day later in the mail, and put it in the Phone, went online at:
https://www.paygonline.com/websc/loginPage.html
Make a new AT&T prepaid account (Mobile Number is already provided in the envelope slip when you receive your SIM card in the mail)
You will be sent a temporarely PIN to that new AT&T number via SMS.

• After the account is created you will see balance due $300 as you havent been charged for anything yet, and pressung the "Pay Now" button will present you with option to pay with either a Credit/Debit Card or enter a Code from a Prepaid Card..

• Go to Target and buy your prepaid card here:
https://www.target.com/p/prepaid-...A-82498449
Should arrive within 2-4hrs into your email box.
NOTE Target Prepaid Phone Cards offten go on sale for 10% off, so you could get the $300 card for $270 and if you have Red Card aditional 5% off so your total year plan could cost $256.50 which ends up been $21.37 a month 😎

• Activate your plan.

• Optionaly after all that is done, call customer service to port your number and replace the one the SIM card came with.

$25/mon is not a deal. Using 16gb data for what when we are in most locations with free WiFi!

I've been looking for a reasonable hotspot plan for some time. This sounds like possibly the best one around (even though it is not that great overall)

Does anyone know if the hotspot include the entire amount of data and not limited to like 5gb like most plans? I don't care about 5g, just need 4g. (it says yes, full data usage)

Also, I'm still a bit unclear on this whole 8+8 thing. You 'do' get 16GB a month on the same line correct? Not just 16GB if it rolls over. It's really 8+8 (and possibly up to additional 8gb rollover for a month).
