I have the $300 per year plan with 8GB data and I've been on the phone with customer service. They wont change my data to 16GB. I was on the phone with them 35min to argue. I asked for a supervisor and they hung up. I'm not giving up though.

I have activated the service on my Physical SIM Card.

Now how do I convert my line from Physical SIM to e-Sim card.
Went to couple of AT&T shops and they are not helping saying the process is complicated.

Any idea or any step by step process to convert to e-Sim ?

I am going to travel internationally, so would like to have this line transferred to an eSim and then buy another SIM when I reach my destination.
Should've just started service with eSIM to make it easier

In the past you would have to go to an ATT Store and buy a $5 eSIM card from there -- after that you call prepaid CS and tell them you bought a new sim card and wanted to update the sim ICCID on your line

Read off the new ICCID and wait for your physical sim to stop working -- then scan the eSIM QR code with your phone's camera app and that should prompt you to save the eSIM profile to your phone

Has anyone had any issues with the sim card status (android) showing phone number unknown?

I called ATT on a line that we ported from tmobile to this and it still is showing unknown after apparently an OTA refresh, they have a ticket open for it just wondering if there was a specific thing I need to tell them to do to get that number to populate.

Everything works fine on the phone, data, voicemail, calls texts etc, just some specific features that look at the sim card phone number to verify things dont.

I have had the $300/8GB deal for the last two years and I'm about to renew. Definitely will look into somehow changing to 16GB. I think I went over my limit once and then nothing worked.
Port out to Visible 25 Unlimited plan, then port back in.

I just recently ported in to take advantage of this deal. It was accident i snagged the 16GB extra data, I'm going to live in Mexico City for a few months and Visible(Verizion) doesn't have a presence there (GSM only).

It was a pain to port in, but i suppose worth it in the end.

I still think Visible's Unlimited $25 Dollar plan is a better deal. It comes with a mobile hopspot that is also unlimited (capped at 5mps) I've used 100gbs just in streaming via a firestick the last month. Truly unlimited.

Unfortunately it won't be much use to me in Mexico.

Honestly, with Prepaid, I think eSim is too much of a liability. If your phone breaks, getting the Phone number/service transferred is too much of a pain. ATT's Prepaid customer service is horrid.

also a 611 call telling them you want to update sim card number and you are done

Depends on what you need but for me personally I've never broken a phone so not too concerned about that and eSIM activation was easy/instant -- at least the eSIM can't be removed if my iPhone is stolen and I have my sim slot free for a spare line if needed

You can get a replacement sim from ATT/BB/Target/Walmart and call CS (just don't forget your account security pin) -- you can also keep a spare unused sim at home just in case (eBay is good for physical sims)

I think ATT corporate stores might also be able to help with prepaid if you find a useful rep that's willing to help

Been with multiple prepaid carriers over the years and I rarely have to contact their CS -- prepaid CS in general with any carrier isn't the best since that's how they cut costs but that's fine with me since I'm saving money on service

Thank you very much. I got T-mobile prepaid card today. But when I insert the sim card, my phone askes me to enter network unlock code. It says "Your phone is not allowed to use this SIM card". Is it because my phone is a locked phone. How to handle this? Thank you very much in advance.

Text chat support might work YMMV:

Just FYI - if you are porting a number, leave enough time for issues and mistakes.
I had a lot of issues porting my number to AT&T from Mint Mobile. I had left myself about a week's time between activating my account and my mint mobile renewal date.
The first SIM I got was a dud. It took me several days of trying to activate it but the activation process would just fail. Upon CS advice, I took it to an AT&T store and the rep could not help me. He said they don't have access to this particular plan. If they gave me a new SIM, it would be on the 8GB/mo plan and not 16GB/mo.

I ordered a new SIM which took a couple of days to arrive. I was able to activate the new SIM using gift cards. After that, I called the porting department. They were able to successfully port from Mint. However, the ported number did not work. I spent the better part of Saturday, talking to porting team, tech support, account specialists, etc. Each would try a thing or two, ask me to wait and call back or would just transfer me to another "specialist". Finally, one of the agents was able to figure out that my ported number was assigned to the wrong account. Someone named Linda Rose but I know no Linda Rose. Not sure how that happened but he finally fixed it.

So moral of the story: Leave some time for porting. Things can go wrong. Thankfully I had a week but I barely made it.

When I had esim, it was attached to the device. So in order for me to change service to another phone I had to call the 1800 number and go through a long transfer process. Then redownload an app and a few other steps. Where as a physical sim you just remove it and replace it with another device. If you NEED eSim(2 numbers on 1 phone) I can see why the hassle will be worth it. But, just to have the latest and greatest for the sake of it, I don't see the point.
