Any update on this?
bottom line always always order a new number

never click porting a number at the order stage
or bringing in a number

the csr created a new account which does not have the promo as he does not have access to the promo at the port dept

you can try porting first before scanning the esim card they send. Probably that will work.

Problem with mine was, After porting the number esim in my phone still showed old number. So i went ahead and removed the esim data (in settings) and tried to scan the qr code again but that failed as its one time use and errored out stating already used. After dealing with support for an hour, they said to go to ATT store to get new esim QR.
So I ended up rolling the dice and everything worked as expected. Activated the esim with a temporary number on my S22 Ultra, then called to port my number in from Verizon.

No issues at all, just rebooted the phone and the esim updated with my port-in number.

I just spoke with a CSR from ATT and she said the 16gb promo will end on October 14. There's no way to verify this unfortunately, but if you're planning on getting this deal you may want to keep that date in mind.

- iPhone 11 eSIM activation then changed to physical sim. I did this because Tmobile also had eSim on same phone.
- 16gb annual plan
- Paid with $300 refills (bought few weeks ago for $270)
- Ported number from Tmobile prepaid

On Sep 15 2022
Used iphone safari for online eSIM activation:
https://www.att.com/prepaid/activ...ivate.html

- Entered EID (last 4) and IMEI2 used by eSIM (not the physical sim IMEI)
- Entered original service zip code for where my number is from (that way temp number is from same region)
- Selected $300 16gb plan
- ATT eSIM profile showed up on my phone settings so I accepted it
- It finished activating service with new temp number
- Got text message link to create online account and security pin so I did that using phone browser
- logged into my new online account
- Showed $300 due
- Updated online profile settings with my name and current address
- Did not pay the $300 due
- Went to At&T store and got physical sim card. Called prepaid customer service and activated physical sim(changed Esim to physical sim). Need to give ICCID on physical sim card. Confirmed with agent that 8gb bonus data available. She mentioned if I transfer number at beginning without getting temporary number, 8gb bonus data not available. Since I got temp number, It was available
- Bought 6 $50 Att refills for $270 from target

On Oct 6 2022
- Paid $300 due using prepaid refills
- Called ATT port dept @ 888-898-7685
- Entered temp number and got transferred to a rep
- Told him I just activated prepaid service with a temp number and wanted to port my tmobe number over
- Gave him temp number and security pin so he could access my account
- Gave him Tmobile port info (phone/account/port pin/name/address)
- He told tmobile has account takeover protection feature enabled
- Called Tmobile and asked them to remove account takeover protection feature
- Then called back ATT port number.
- Took a few mins for port approval.
- Transfer was in progress for 15 hours
- Again called at&t prepaid and explained them. They transferred me to transfer department
- She made portin complete. Call disconnected on temporary number. She called me to number on att which was transferred from tmobile
- she asked me another number to call. She called me to another number. Asked to restart the att device.
- Restarted phone and Physical sim updated with my regular number

Thanks all for spelling this out. I have a few questions...I'm trying to replicate the steps and I'm almost at the home stretch. I am now at the point of porting my old number back into AT&T. I guess I have to create a new online account on AT&T prepaid to apply prepaid cards and avoid being charged $300 on the credit card? What happens to the "new" number assigned to the new AT&T SIM once the old number is ported back in? TIA

My current AT&T Prepaid 8GB 12 Month Plan is up for renewal in a few days, so I decided to port out and port back in to get the 16GB promo. I can't believe how easy it was to port to T-Mobile. Didn't even have to call to port. These are the steps I took so far on my iPhone:

1. Use the T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM app to select the $10 plan with a temporary number and enter payment info, and the app then automatically asks you to install the eSIM.
2. Use a browser to create a My T-Mobile account, and log in.
3. Click on My T-Mobile > Line Details > Change a phone number > Transfer your number
4. Enter my AT&T Prepaid phone number, account number (which I got from text chat), and PIN (supposedly can use any random number, but I used my AT&T account PIN just to be safe).

The port literally took minutes. I rebooted the iPhone, and my original number was already on the T-Mobile eSIM. I want a physical SIM for my AT&T service, so I placed the order for the 16GB plan with a new number, and when the SIM arrives, I will activate service, add my discounted refill cards, and call AT&T to port from T-Mobile. Since I already paid $10 for T-Mobile, I might just use it until my 1000 minutes or 1GB of data are used up first.

Glad it worked well !

You can also just buy a sim from att store or target or best buy or walmart and just use att prepaid activations to start a new line

please remember to ask for a same market number

I felt safer ordering it online, because someone mentioned a few posts earlier that the promo might be ending on the 14th, so I figured they would have to honor it if I chose the plan during checkout. I also ordered it online, since some cash back sites seem to offer $10 for AT&T Prepaid, which pretty much covers the T-Mobile charge. And yes, I did get a temporary number in the same market as the phone number I will be porting in.

i seriously doubt that will be the case. they said the same thing with the 8gb plan 5 years ago. but it does make me wonder if i should port out now, a month early, just to get on this plan.

8GB rolls over, the bonus 8GB doesn't.
