Had these binoculars, completely unimpressed for the price. Try instead Sightron SII Blue Sky binoculars. Currently on sale for $100 at Adorama and various other retailers. Would avoid these at all cost.

Make yourself a favor and spent a bit more money like on a Steiner (Made in Germany). It's night and day.

It's hilarious to me that the binoculars subreddit highly reviews the 3S as an entry-level option, then people here complain how much they suck.

Well, I owned a Nikon before getting Steiner - good allrounder used also by hunters and NATO. You can also go more expensive with i.e. Zeiss.

This one was a great deal a couple of months back: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/701281

what are your opinions on the vortex vanquish for approx 90, or the crossfire for about 120, or the diamondback for 150ish?

the sightron 10x32s look pretty nice though. thats about the size and magnification i want. 10x40 would be a bit better, but the 32s will be nice for packability.

I have the 10x32 sightron (i recommend the 10x32 & 8x32 only as I have no experience with their other models) and I am more than impressed with how much light is able to come in at dusk& how clear they are in daylight and how well they handle flare. I tried the vanquishes and they were terrible, the crossfire I never handled but I did order a diamondback 12x 50 when starting out, honestly those were pretty good glass for non ED but in my experience they are usually overpriced vs competitors anywhere from $50-100. The most impressive thing to me about the sightrons is how light they are in comparison to the quality and value you get out of them, so I still stick by my suggestion in this price range.

* 2 notes: Sighton QC is hit and miss I had to send a unit back and get a replacement due to a smudge on the inside glass elements. And if you want an alternative to the sightrons another good pair to give a try are the Athlon Neos G2 8x42 available for under $100 on amazon regularly. I was extremely impressed with optic quality using them in an urban environment day/night and they were built rather well.

While researching, I was also looking at Vortex. One of the major points for my decision was that I try to buy U.S. made or at least made in a Western country such as Germany.

Steiner also offers a lifetime warranty / no registration needed / no questions asked.

damn I googled 8x42 and didn't get any google results in hunting forums. I'm sure I'll be happy @ $80 though... figured the 42 would be better in low light. but now I'm wishing I had gotten the 32 lol

thanks to you both. i ended up picking up these:
https://www.adorama.com/SIIBL1032.html
Sightron 10x32 SII

mostly because i think they are the form factor im looking for, and the price was great. i do a lot of hunting, hiking and backpacking, so i wanted something small, but something with a decent amount of zoom.

I have a similarly priced Fujifilm KF 10x42 binocular that I paid $140 for, ~5 years ago. Wanted an upgrade so I bought the newest Nikon Monarch M5 12x42 for $320 from Best Buy. Almost double the price of the Fujifilm, but I can honestly say the Fujifilm is on par with the Nikon M5 in terms of image quality and ergonomics. So I guess you could say I wasn't impressed. From reading forums, it looks like you have to step up to the Monarch M7 to truly revel in optics performance.

I guess I made a good decision to pick up the FujiFilm cuz it looks like they only produce high-end binoculars now in the $700+ territory.

I just ordered. Having a hard time finding a better pair for the price despite the comments on this thread. Code FOCUS5 gives an extra $5 off. Should be a great pair for $94

I have these and like them just fine. I just wanted to look at wildlife out my back door and these do the trick. I like the eye relief that makes it easy to use with my glasses, or without. Not a lot of extra features, but it makes stuff look bigger and I liked the price. For casual use, I would recommend them.
