Would something like this be a good solution for automotive use? For on gas cap door and other doors?
if you want to add a cellular access point and a hub to your car, sure, i guess you could make it work...
but no, these are home devices that need an infrastructure behind them to operate.

Using the previous generation with Home Assistant for the last 2yrs. ZwaveJS has no issues and sets them up as door/window sensors. They may not be the cheapest option but work great.

They work on SmartThings. Haven't changed battery since I've installed them before the pandemic. I think it may have lost connection and I haven't gotten around to update it.

I use them with ST. Not easy hookup though. Needs some tweaks...scour through ST community.

Finally got it, but I can't get it back into inclusion mode. Immediately when I put in the battery, it paired, but then it didn't finish interviewing because I was trying to put the battery cover on and the battery fell out. I tried the "trigger the reed switch 3 times in 5 seconds" thing but it doesn't do anything. I hate it when they don't just put a reset button on them.

Edit: also it drains battery like crazy. It already went through the battery it came with and another new CR2032 that I had. I put in another one and it dropped like 0.2V in 15 minutes, so maybe I just got a bad unit, but I'm thinking it's just in a state where it can't be reset.
