The Zooz Z-Wave sensors are the same price at Thesmartesthouse.com

I have 5 of them connected in Smartthings and they work perfectly. Very fast and reliable.
Do you need a custom handler for Smartthings? If so, do you have a link?

I believe I did install a customer DHT for those sensors. The link is on the product page on thesmartesthouse.com

Can someone point me in the right direction how to get started with this? zooz, hubitat, how does it all work. I googled stuff I see Hubitat "Elevation" Hub $99 on sale, then Zooz sells something that looks identical for $109 but they don't call it Elevation. Is this the Z-Wave hub then? Do I need other stuff for more devices or just this one hub? How does it all fit together, does Hubitat work with HA or is it an alternative? So many questions.

A smart home needs 3 things to operate: 1. Smart home products like bulb, plugs, these sensors, etc 2. A physical "hub" that communicates with those products 3. Software that lets you easily communicate with the hub.

Hubitat makes a hub (Elevation) and the software that runs on it. It's a brand. Zooz makes products and the hub and the software. Zooz is also a brand. Smartthings is another brand. Philips Hue. Monoprice. Home Assistant is not exactly a brand, it's software you run yourself on a hub you build yourself. Etc.

Usually a smart home device can communicate with a hub if the communication protocol is the same—the 3 biggies are zigbee, z-wave, and of course, wifi ('matter' is supposed to be another one soon but nothing yet).

A simple start may be to grab a cheap wifi plug or bulb and set it up to start thinking about what you want in your smart home.

(This is overly simplified.) Hubitat is one of several brands that make a "hub" that devices will connect to. "Elevation" is just a model/marketing word, doesn't really mean anything. "Zooz" is one of many brands that makes home automation devices. If you find a product that uses z-wave or zigbee, they generally can connect to a Hubitat hub to be controlled. In the most typical usage, your hub is the single master coordinator for all of your devices. You control and configure your hub and its connected devices through a webpage.

You'll learn faster by actually using it, so just jump in. A hub and a couple devices will get you started. Grab the latest "Hubitat Elevation" hub and two Zooz ZEN15 Power Switches. Going through the process of setting that up will be the best crash course.

Do these work well with smartthings?
I have the older generation ones. They worked great with my smart things gen 1, been going strong for 2 years. The monoprice garage tilt sensor crapped out within 6 months. I'm running these on home assistant now.

Just stick with zooz devices. You need a company that will push firmware at some point.
Agreed, about the same price and much better support

Agree, got it last time when there was deal (2 for $16). Works seamlessly with Smartthings.

Yes. Even now it's $20 for two.

Does this integrate in the Ring system?
ring sensors are around $20 a piece on Amazon, no advantage getting this for your ring system. Also my understanding is that ring system will take most z-wave devices, but because it's not ring approved, it will only notify you that the sensor is being opened/closed, but it will not trigger alarm as Ring would not want to be responsible for faulty 3rd party sensors setting off alarms.

Would something like this be a good solution for automotive use? For on gas cap door and other doors?
