Not sure how this is supposed to be slick. It's seems bottom of the list on 3M site as economy grade. Lowes for example have similar 700 series but for some reason the temp range is better (14F-194F) for $2.38 https://www.lowes.com/pd/Scotch-7...lsrc=aw.ds

Home depot has similar but marked as 1700 series (probably same stuff but different number so competition can't match) for same $2.38 or roll of 5 for $7.98 https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Te.../310698785
The best so far is super 33+ and 88 IMO but yes they will cost more. For cheap bulk price sometimes Amazon basic one is on good deal as well.

Personal rule of thumb that has never failed me, glossy black electrical tape = good, matte black electrical tape = shit.

Super 33 or 88 or nothing for me.. good stretch and does well in the cold, definitely worth the premium especially if you use it regularly

There's a reason the Farmer's Almanac is in its 200+ th year of publication, folk knowledge (or what the kids call 'crowd sourcing') is a pretty good source. If you didnt know, now you know

Many a war, genocide, riots, pillage, gang rapes, etc. was and is caused by 'crowd sourcing.'

With almost 8 billion people in this world, today's crowd sourcing via the Internet has many distinct groupings from all walks and facets of life. We even have it here on this site.

Nevertheless, there remains the Farmer's Almanac (1818) and the Old Farmer's Almanac (1792) and neither is from crowd sourcing... "If you didnt know, now you know" Smilie

PS: Never follow the crowd...

PPS: I never left your down vote.... If anything, I typically leave a Smilie when calling "BS."

FWIW, I was looking for white electrical tape and found this:

ULine [uline.com]

I've been pretty happy with it. If you're willing to buy in bulk, you aren't going to get a much better deal.
Of all the silly and shortsighted ways to save a buck, shaving a buck off the cost of electrical tape and going with some no-name imported crap that Uline will provide over tried and true 3M takes the cake.

It's like the deals on no-name PEX connectors in bulk. You save up front, with the potential of it costing you way more down the line. No thanks.

not worth supporting the uline family

Why is that? Are they closet communists, always grabbing and smelling little girl's hair, profiting from perpetual hegemony, or something negative? In bulk, they are not for everyone, but prices can be reasonable and all of their employees pay income and FICA taxes that support those that don't.

Actually, 3M makes many of the other brands all over the world with like 5 plants in just China... Short sighted would be thinking the other 7.6 Billion people in this world just have to have Scotch 700, 3M 88 or 33 from their list of hundreds of electrical tape versions.

It is kind of like buying store brands that for many, if not most, come right out of the same facilities that manufacture name brands. They ALL have a maximum amount of rat siht allowed. Smilie

So you're saying they're made to the same standards?

Good to know who to ignore on this thread. Thanks for making it obvious. Have fun with the no name PEX fittings too!

The 88 tape costs 4X and the 33+ costs 5X the price of this deal - not very slick

Jon, I think what was meant is that this is mostly the everyday price for the OP on Amazon. Nothing the matter with this 700 for it's designed application, but if you do a quick search, it has been cheaper on here.

Every once in awhile the 88 and 33 will pop up here for less than $4, but the box stores usually have a reasonable deal... I think the 33 and 88 is everyday $5 or so.

Here is the 66' 88 [lowes.com] at Lowes for $5.18 as an every day price before any discounts.

Of course many are made to the same standards and many are made by 3M to confuse small minds too lazy to look up individual specifications.

Every box store wants their own 'number,' when in reality, they can be the same identical tape being sold for two and three times as much. It is up to you to do the research...

PS: This is an electrical tape thread... not a pex thread.

Wait, you can make the bogus claims but it's up to me to do the research?

Sounds about right. I'm sure that Uline pays about the same cost, they're just passing on the savings out of the kindness of their hearts.

Used electrical tape to patch up a cracked PVC drain pipe under the kitchen sink 6 years ago. Wrapped the pipe 3" before the crack, overlapping, to 3" after.

6 years, and it's still holding up. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

It is absolutely your responsibility to research and verify anything to then have an informed opinion.... especially the propaganda machines. Do they no longer teach 'critical thinking' in public education? I gave the 3M link way before and not my responsibility to hand feed anyone like a baby. Now, if you tried and still need help, by all means, ask the question and someone here should be able to help.

Uline is no different than any other seller... sometimes they have deals. I just don't like the sly backdoor nonsense because someone is a closet communist and wants free speech only for their ideology. This is a deal site... The last time I bought from Uline was almost three years ago for two cases of 3ml clear packing tape that was a deal.... and still using what is left. 3ml is the premium (heavier tape) and reasonably sure it was made by 3M. But, if not, still good tape and has not dried up.
So just to clarify - you make a baseless assertion that maybe, Uline's tape was made by 3M - which of course is utter nonsense, and then make it someone else's responsibility to disclaim your baseless assertion?

Oh, and just to make the ridiculous lie even more ridiculous, try to claim that you've got some tape from Uline and it's just great.

They do teach critical thinking in public school, which is what makes your logic so easy to see right through.
