This Chromebook has been on sale for $99.00 or less for a while but the Slickdeals posts about it haven't gotten much traction. It's a fantastic budget Chromebook because of the solid build quality and N4020 processor. I've been using this exact model daily for 2 years with zero issues. I even picked up a backup when Wally cleared them out for $64.00.
Yes, I played Minecraft on it while high.

I have a Flex 3 with this CPU is quite fast and works very well. Much faster than the 8183. I mostly use it without touch so this would work fine for most things.

Yes they say the 8183 is better for some Android apps but the ones I used worked better on the Celeron.

Video was much better on the Celeron I could co 4k at 30hz vs 1080p @ 24hz. On an external monitor of course.

The battery does last longer on the 8183,

I have the 8183. Love the battery life, does well if you don't do too much at once.

I use an 8173C, and I notice that HDMI-out makes the system feel sluggish. Not from the frame rate decreasing AFAIK. That could be a main win for the Celeron.

I'm good with what I have and I want extra RAM more than anything, but this is a great deal that should be jumped on. It's also nice to see more than 32 GB eMMC at a sub-$100 price point.

I been using the same model since Februrary when a refurbished version of it went on sale for President day.. Celeron N4020, 4gb of Ram, my model has 32 gb of storage while this one "NEW" (not refurbished) has 64gb of Storage.

And it is "it is fine" , by which I mean I am very happy for what it is =) and the price I got it for. I am not complaining about the speed, or the battery life, it is a nice 2nd computer that I use when I travel. A computer I used to use several hours a day outside in the sun when it was still spring and before it got to 90 to 100 degree weather outside.

Very happy with my purchase. Only complaint I have is the screen is not IPS but the screen is actually pretty good for a TN panel, in a way I can say "it is fine" / satisfactory and I have no real complaints for the device I bought in February for the price I bought it for (similar to this.)

-----

I hope it makes people happy who are considering it. I would recommend it. It is not slow, it does its job of what I expect out of it and what you should expect out of a sub $100 dollar device.

I did not really have a problem using an external monitor with the Celeron. I eventually bought an I3 with 8GB DDR but it had more to do with wanting to have more tabs open. It would get sluggish with 9 or more tabs open on the Celeron.

On my 8183 Duet just having the external monitor on slowed it down.

The I3 with 8GB DDR is lightening fast even with many tabs open and it will do 4K @ 60hz. But it was far more expensive $330 on sale open box. ASUS C536.

I am not the person to answer this, but there is like 3 different ways to do Linux on it. I did the developer method which gives you a console which does linux in a container and I sudo installed WINE on my 32gb version.

https://support.google.com/chrome...5439?hl=en

If I recall the ways to do Linux is Debian Buster (which I did), but one can also do Crouton, or dual boot with ChrUbuntu. But do not take my word for the 2nd and 3rd option for I have not attempted it.
