Bought this yesterday and returned it for the Lenovo Flex 3 (N4020). I believe the specs are exactly the same, except that this one doesn't have the touchscreen (price difference ($20) is like from the touchscreen feature). Only reason I replaced it was the wifey wanted to the touchscreen. If you don't need a touchscreen, this model will be great and for the price is super good.
You have to login to get the "early black friday deal". Great find OP.
Does this have any Microsoft software with it? Like excel or word? Can I use it for writing letters and keep budget spreadsheets?
There's Microsoft Office Online, but this is ChromeOS, and there isn't any Microsoft software installed. The Google Suite (Docs, Sheets which is Google's version of Word and Excel) is quite good, although not as full featured as the Microsoft Office program that you download and install on Windows or Mac. You can enable Linux and install Libre Office which is a decent substitute.

i agree the Flex 3 is better it has more USB slots as well. The Display Adapter allows it to do video very well on an external monitor.
But this should work great if you do not care about the touch screen.
I bought this the last time it was $79. Yeah the screen is crappy. But it's price, small footprint, battery life, and snappiness make up for that flaw. This thing is great for simple backpack travel. Don't have to worry about losing/breaking it since it's so cheap. I like mine a lot.

Not a good reason from consumer perspective. Besides additional components will cost money too.
I believe the main reason for pi's shortage is the msrp for the pis has razor thin profit margin so the chip orders is not on the top of the priority list of the chip manufactory, comparing to the existing laptop orders. The sky rocketed price is just the result of low supply and high demand.

Been $100 or less, for these specs, for ages.
And it has video over USB-C, so you can rock dual screen if you need.
For $80 it's a great backup.
