Google Fi is a good alternative to Cricket Wireless.

No it's not. This is for the grandfathered plan of 5 lines for $100. They don't offer it for new customers and they are retiring it.

Nope,...you are grandfathered. For new customers. Stop being a pansy .
grandfathered plan of 5 for $100 is gone, you are the one that obviously doesn't know what you are talking about. Title is accurate.

Dude read before you open your mouth. New customers are not offered the 5/$100 anymore. Whoever is on it will have to switch to 5/$125.

Did you just start a new cycle?

No I'm a few days out and they said it will start the day after the cycle ends.

Here's the text:

Cricket Free Msg: Starting [July 28], your rate plan price will change. The average price per line on your account will be $26/mo. instead of $20/mo. You will see this change on your next Auto Bill Payment total. Visit a Cricket store or https://www.cricketwireless.com/RatePlans to learn about other Cricket rate plans that may offer a better value for you. If you stay on your current plan, the monthly price for line 4 will be $20 instead of $10 and line 5 will be $20 instead of $0.

Since Cricket has taxes and fees incl, it is impossible to know how much those will be with a carrier like Fi. As is well known those fees vary depending on your state and local rules, so again nobody makes that issue transparent.

My guess, from reading posts on Reddit is that a family plan for 5 lines on their basic unlimited for $100, will have $20-30 in fees. So, if that is close to accurate, it appears not to be a saving from the Cricket 5 for $125 plan.

I left cricket when me and my sons phones would no longer work because 3g tower shut down. Went from $90 for 3 lines to $240 with AT&T. I miss cricket. I need AT&T/ cricket service. It's only one that gets reception while I'm at work in oil field.

Fi has tons of discounted Pixel, Samsung android devices, and they are unlocked from Day 1.

I'm thinking of switching to Mint Mobile, Do you think that it is good?

I've been on the grandfathered 5/$100 plan for several years now. Thus far, I have not received notification regarding the plan rate change, and my July monthly charges as the same as before. Perhaps they will change it to coincide with the next billing cycle?
Maybe it is due to the billing cycle date. My billing cycle ends on 7/6 and it tells me that I owe $100. I read somewhere that the grandfathered plan will stop at 7/15. So anybody renewing afterwards will have the increased rate.

not bad but I have seen bigger gaps and longer ping times with visible especially when trying to run it as a hot spot.
Because Visible hotspot is unlimited but capped at 5mbps

i have not received a text yet , still $100 here due June 23rd this week , and I have $800 in credits.

there is an app called Ad it Up for android phones and you can earn cricket credits really easy!
I started it in Oct 2021 just for gift cards , but saw all 5 lines were eligible to play so i dug out the old android prepaid phones from my Viggle Days and I havent paid for cricket service since Nov last year.
I was able to earn $125 in cricket credits in about 15-20 days in the beginning , but now like any rewards app , they have cut the bonus points by 2/3rds. so will be looking at $125 credit every 45 days or so with minimum effort. if you want to do alot more surverys you could get enough points every month.

If July they make me switch to $125 , I can live with that no problems.
yep officially got the email to the price increase just now. Yesterday they took the last $100 payment and now says $130 for July 23rd. guess I need to switch to the 5 for $125 this month and then next month might be dropping the 5th line and go to 4 for $100 depending on how much I make on the ad it up app.
also since this is prepaid , its probably best to wait and change near the end of the billing cycle to avoid pro-rated charges for a full month I would think.

2yrs of misery. Would never recommend Cricket to no one. Went on with T-Mobile, not perfect, but so far good.

Highly depends where you are. I tried Tmobile twice in the past 6 years and had too many issues. Last time the phone, which i got from Tmobile when I switched, would lose data randomly for 15 to 20 mins at a time a few times every other day. Tried customer service many times, even went to the store a few times and could not get it to work right (they tried changing the network settings and resetting the service on their end.) I even got a different phone with a discount they gave me and still had issues. And this was when I used to live and work in downtown Phoenix. Switched to cricket and for the most part it's waaaay better. It can get slow in crowded places but it always works and when I go out of town it gets reception where Tmobile did not.
