Getting closer to MSRP, also the 12 GB variant is in this price range. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $500-600 for a 3080 at this point, wait for next gen or pick up a top 30xx on a steep discount.

Nest generation is apparently delaye. When that comes out it won't be easy to find yeah maybe you'll save $100 or $150 is that worth waiting a year or two your call
Forgot to say the 12gb has like a 3 percent frame rate improvement and usually uses more power connectors and is more power hungry up to you if that's. Worth it.
Yeah people have been waiting a long time and this card is old but the issue is when the new cards come out it will be a long wait as well, plus there's no telling if these will actually go below MSRP or when they will happen since it seems like the market post COVID is totally different
Eg cars, concert ticket resales, etc
I'd pay $600 for a 12GB model. I've waited this long, I'll wait for next gen. Hopefully the everything bubble including cryptos stays popped and they keep up QT and higher rates and don't panic and pump more bubble inflating stimulus into the economies globally. If the crypto market collapses, we can have affordable video cards that are easy to find. These companies don't really care who buys them and have been selling them by the dozens to individuals since the start. It benefited them because it made higher margins and higher prices the "new norm".
10GB of VRAM is really not enough for 4K resolution to futureproof. My 1080ti has 11GB and 12GB is the absolute bare minimum I would want.

bitcoin crashed under 20k recently.. this should reflect onto the GPU market in a month or so. Expect another crash in GPU prices soon. I'm doing the GPU dance right now

I don't think crypto matters as much as people thinks supply will be limited bots will purchase initial supply and then people will have to pay scalper prices or wait. Enthusiasts will pay scalper prices and others will wait. Chip supply limitations are not going anywhere for a while. Trust me on this one cause of the industry I work at.
So yeah you'll probably save $150 bucks more by waiting how many months idk. Now ask yourself if that's worth it. Now 4000 is supposedly delayed. Even when it comes out it will be 4080 first which isn't really competing with this. To wait for an alternative to this card at around this price will probably be 4070. And that will come out later.
People speculating about the crypto market guess what you don't know what that will be like no one does. So yeah you might save money or it might end up being worse who knows

Im not gonna debate that but there's little point to try to predict how it will do. And what that will mean for graphics cards.
Unless you're really tight with money is saving $100 worth waiting an indifinate amount of time?
The collapse of crypto has already allowed GPU cards to plummet in price. GPU prices have come massively down, and they should come down significantly more.

The 3080 10gb will be sold out or out of production before hitting under $600. That is the only card worth its price at MSRP. The 12gb is not worth more than 800 either.
If you play at 1440p for example, and you have a ~700W PSU, there's no reason to wait for the 4000 series.
#1) You don't know how easy they'll be to get
#2) They've already been delayed
#3) No need for a 4080 to run 1440p or even 4k because we are far from new consoles and all games are limited by compatibility of consoles.
#4) Sub 4080 won't be released at the same time, and if the power consumption rumored is true, you will need 800W or more PSU.
I, for one, gladly paid MSRP for 3080 from the bestbuy deal a few days ago because my PSU is 750, and my computer is ITX form factor.

Another few rounds of this and the GPUs will free up.
