Great price but so not recommended because of the app that controls it. The latest update made this robot basically useless. Just read the reviews for the ihome clean app on whatever app store you use.

Unfortunately, I'm losing a lot of faith with iHome products. Just recently, iHome turned off the smart home functionality for all their smart plugs making them useless. It worked well for the past 4 years but now it's simply paper weights.

Huh, the latest update has been fantastic both ours. I will say that I did have to reset and re-add one of them to the app, but it picked up right where it left of with settings, map, and no-go zones.

Have this exact one cleaning as we speak. Highly recommend.

The app update has made it much better and more user friendly, though I did need to reset zones.

Only downside is no Alexa/Google integration to easily say "Alexa, clean the family room." That being said, I just setup different areas on schedules or use the iHome app.

I bought this back on the previous Black Friday. While its not perfect, it works fairly well. The old app wasnt as bad as many are making it out to be but the new update to it has definitely improved it a lot from what I can tell (using iOS if that matters). It has gotten stuck on wires/cables because they were thin and usually under a bed/furniture. The map management has been pretty good with setting boundaries and zones. I wanted the auto-empty bin and at this price point, the minor inconveniences are acceptable to me since this is only used on the 2nd floor of our house.

FWIW, our situation:
1. run it weekly,
2. have 1 cat who sheds plenty along with 2 women in the house (I do need to do some detangling on the brushes from time to time)
3. run it on wood floors with some tile in bathrooms, some rugs in bedrooms (about 1100 sq ft)
4. had to replace bag once since Nov 2021 (its possible to just empty the bag into a bigger garbage bag though)
5. do not use the mop functionality
6. have it connected to Alexa but dont use the voice controls ever, just the app

I bought this earlier this year after moving to a new apartment with hardwood floors. I was getting so many dust bunnies I decided to try out these robot vacuums. When I compare the price of the others, this gives so much more bang for the buck and the reviews show it works quite well. The thing to keep in mind is, you're not paying $600, so don't expect $600 performance. Of course there are much more expensive ones with AI camera detection to avoid wires and puppy accidents.

Some of my feedback is:
Pros:
- The Lidar is surprisingly good. It doesn't bump into most things and just skims the edges. The ones without lidar will bounce off all walls, chairs, etc. Believe it when people say Lidar is a game changer. Plus, with lidar, it can clean in the darkness while you sleep.
- It auto-empties. They say you have to replace the bag once a month, but for me, I've been going 4 months and it's only about 1/4 full.
- It goes under tables/cabinets if the legs are high enough. Reduces the dust everywhere!

Cons:
- It only gets about 90% of stuff. I don't mind since I have it running every day, so after a few days, it has picked up pretty much everything.
- It is pretty noisy. There are multiple vacuum settings, but the drive motors are so loud, you might as well just set it to the max vacuum since it's already being noisy.
- It's slow. It takes about 30 minutes to clean my place. Maybe other vacuums are just as slow, but people have commented on why I let it run when it's faster for me to vacuum myself. I say it saves me from vacuuming 10 minutes a week and I don't care how long it takes. It's usually running when I'm not home anyways.

Other FYI:
- I have no problems with the app. Once it's programmed, I just leave it and never use it. I have a few keepout areas and set it to run every day, so not sure why people hate the app.
- The sensors get dusty easily and it won't tell you. If the vacuum starts acting weird and running around in circles, it's likely the sensors (not lidar) are dirty and it thinks it's about to drive off a cliff. I have to clean the sensors every other week to keep it working. That only involves a wet napkin to clear the dust
- Keep those cords away from it. I'm sure all robot vacuums have this problem if they don't have AI. It will eat up cords and get stuck
- I never use the auto-mop, but I've heard it sucks

I think this is a great entry level robot vacuum to see if you'll like it and use it

What have you been smoking??? The latest app update works great. Can setup virtual walls just about anywhere, spot clean, control the maintenance bin, suction and water level, along with direct control if you dont want to use the remote control that came with the unit.

Whatever you are referencing is not a iHome Nova product and others below look to agree with me.

Robot is amazing, my only issue is occasionally it does not find its way back home, but I think I caused my own problem by putting a do not go zone so close to the base that it was interfering with the robot guidance.
I had the exact problem with it returning home at first. I also had a no-go zone set up very close to the base. Once I moved it a little bit, it worked fine. Glad to know I wasn't the only one.

Yep and issue only seems to happen with mopping attachment installed, without it, it has returned back home every time without a problem.

How do you get it to work without the mop attachment installed? I tried it without the mop attachment, the charging connection won't make contact and it kept backing into the dust bin. However, with it installed, the robot wasn't able to back up on carpet. I spent an hour playing around with it and still wasn't able to get it working. Compare to the wyze robot set up, it's way too frustrating.

It comes without the mop attachment installed, the contacts for recharging should not be effected in anyway since they are in a different position. If your unit is not recharging without the mop attachment installed you might have a defective unit.

I would get the bot swapped, cause mine is flawless without the mop attachment and just the dustbin installed. The mop attachment is a plastic piece and also a cloth so make sure your removing the plastic piece that attaches to the dustbin and not just the cloth, incase that is what you are doing? Also ensure you dont have the base station against a wall it has to be a few inches away from the wall per their setup guide.

Just try it again without the mop attachment (both the plastic piece and the cloth). However, unless I physically lift up the back of the robot, it won't make contact and the robot would just keep backing up again and again. It's most likely a defective unit then. Would also explain why it wasn't able to back up with the mop attachment attached, probably because the wheel is too low. That's disappointing.

Yes I would most definitely say defective unit. The charging contacts are right above the dustbin on the top half of the unit two metal strips. Literally the robot just moves back and rubs against the contacts above the dustbin and it starts charging.

As for the mop attachment, as I mentioned I been having hit or miss luck with it returning home properly with it installed. At this point I just removed the attachment completely and when I want it to mop I have to refill the water anyway so I attach it. Slightly inconvenient but for the $250 I paid a few months ago well worth it, so for $200 and under this is no big deal.

Get the unit swapped you should see massive improvements. I like this so much probably going to wait for the next generation units to come out, cause they should be coming out in a few months and will probably get one of those when they go on sale hopefully closer to these prices. Then have one upstairs and one on the main floor.

Just opened ours today. First impression: very thorough cleaning. LiDAR is awesome.. mapped our whole house on the first run. Connected to dual band router easily. App works great.. you can even watch where it is in real-time. I'm happy so far, especially for the price! Much better than our old bump and turn Deebot. Self emptying is a game changer. I can actually schedule it to run now and not have to remember to empty it every time

One thing I noticed today when I tried to send it to a remote area it couldn't find the area and went back to base. It kept saying "unable to reach the specified area".. I ended guiding it to the area by using keypad. After it's done cleaning, it took time to go back to base station. Not sure if anybody else having this issue.
No problems if it's doing full house cleaning

Wished I had gotten this deal instead of the $250 Neato from Lowes that doesn't empty bin and fewer features

What is the difference between this version and the pro version? At regular price, this is more expensive than the pro version?
