I've never watched any Stargate before, but I've watched the first two episodes of Stargate Universe and I like it. I was a Battlestar Galactica fan and now I think I've got a new show to fill the void.

I found it to be much stronger than the first 2. Here is why

1. the soldier kicking the chief scientist was good and nothng like before in SG, it shows it was more brutal/realistic

2. same for shooting that guy in the arm. that was coolSmilie

i dunno about puddle jumper, we'll see if its a plot point for next episode or what

3, i think the other colonol (one left on earth) will play a big role, we just don't know which. same for ming-na character

give it a chnceSmilie

p.s i wan t a show with likable characters and dislikable ones. in the end, that makes the best show, IMO

In case anyone is interested, the song played at the end of the episode is Breathe by Alexi Murdoch, the album is Time Without Consequence. He reminds me a bit of Nick Drake.

DH liked it so much, he just bought the album.

That was a good choice of music for this episode. I will have to look up the singer and listen to some other stuff.
The episode was good. It was slower than the pilot but come on people not every episode can be action packed. It's going to take a few episodes to get good character back story. I like how they brought Oniel back for another episode. I wonder if he will be a regular?
Do you think the ship sent the "puddle jumper" back to rescue the two stranded on the other planet?

That's an interesting thought. I don't think it could. Even if they're alive, there wouldn't be any way for the puddle jumper to catch up to the main ship.

Aha, now that's a thought. Was it a jumper sent by the ship? Or, was it a silent enemy getting intelligence and leaving.

When I saw it I just assumed it was a bad guy, didn't even think twice about who or why.

I think the shape was the same as the jumper that the politician died in. But I could be wrong. Could it have been a jumper from one of the planets that were locked out?

Update:

Okay, I went onto Hulu and compared the jumper the senator died in to the ship that left at the end of the last show. It's not the same at all. So your theory about it being an enemy gathering intelligence looks like it's the most likely answer. Well spotted. nod

That might tie into the next episode. Rush is trying to figure out why the power is failing. Maybe the aliens/intruders are taking the ZPM's or whatever is used to power the ship. I find it odd that they wouldn't elude to "bad guys" in the preview for next week though.

Okay, not aliens.... I just read the episode list on gateworld which gives a short synopsis of the first 7 episodes. None of them say anything about aliens or intruders. Judging by the episode titles, "Incursion" the season finally will introduce the enemy.
Episode 5 "light" does talk about the shuttle so maybe that will give us some answers.

You would think that the people that went to one of the "locked out" worlds would have gotten back fine. They had three or four hours from when they left the original planet to when the time was up. I wouldn't assume that the guy in charge (don't remember his rank right now) would leave that easily without attempting to get the others that disobeyed. They didn't even make mention of it. That tells me that they got them back or tried and found them dead or something and are moving on.

Just my thoughts.

Yeah, I got the feeling that something was edited out. But the two that stepped through to the locked out planet wouldn't have been able to dial out since the rings don't have a dialing device. The guy with the hand held dialer didn't make it through with them, since he was shot.
