No. Last year m1 MacBook Air was $750. If not urgent, I'd keep waiting until M2 air comes out. Will probably see better deals

It's never been $700.

It was $749 (via student discount) at Best Buy. Only once, one year ago, and for 36 hours.

Costco Executive membership gives you an additional 2% on purchases made at Costco.
Yes, but that additional 2% has nothing to do with Costco Visa. You get that regardless of the form of payment you use. When you said "Costco Visa gives back 4%" I thought you meant exclusively from the Citi Costco Visa card

Apple messed up M2 MacBook Pros with single hard drive for 8 GB RAM 256 SSD model. The reviewers are saying M1 read and write speeds are at least 50% or more than M2 (in some case it is almost doubled) and even though M2 is beating M1 with processing power. Overall it seems M2 is not really worth the upgrade from M1 especially for a $400 price difference.

Thanks for the info I hadnt seen this

Seems like the problem is limited to the 256GB base models only

People buying the base model probably will live off WiFi, cloud services for servicing large files, etc, they'll never notice as they can't approach those speeds anyways.

But the ability to use the 2 128 chips for double speed is gone with 1 256 chip, for the 256gb Pro. Which does suck if you are thunder bolting to a fast local drive regularly.

Any guesses on if it will drop lower than this? How does it usually go with new MacBook releases?

Got 1 for $749 back then. It's been great so far. Been waiting for the Pro price to come down to Earth. Sadly, prices are only going up now, even for older tech. End the Fed.

That's because Macs will go on forever unlike a cheap windows machine which will stop working in a couple of years. MacBook Air and MacBook Pro brought in Aug 2014 and used daily by my kids and they still are going strong (except for battery life which is not great anymore). OTOH, I have changed at least 3 Windows machines for my wife who has refused to move to Mac.
Ha - yeah usually ...maybe. I have a macbook air 2020 I bought from costco 2 years and 1 month ago. Suddenly won't charge or boot at all. Apple store diagnostic says $430 to fix. Just put my costco citi 2 year extended warranty to the test yesterday with a claim.. let's see what they come back with.

Please please let us know how that goes.. I've been curious to see a real world test of the Citi Costco extended warranty claim process.

besides from getting it right away from the store, not sure why anyone would not buy from apple website directly? they are running the educational discount. $100 off from ipad and around $150 off for MacBooks.
Unless

10.9" Ipad Air, Wi-fi 256GB - Blue + $100 giftcard
  • @ $699 original - $100 special offer = $599
  • and then you'll get 100$ gift card
  • total of $699 for the ipad with $100 giftcard.
Am i missing something?

If M1 pricing drops below $800 I may not be able to resist. Mag safe/quick charge and a marginally nicer screen would be nice but not worth $400 over an M1. 8GB/256GB seems so tiny by 2022 standards though.

Do we anticipate deals being better than this on either m1 or m2 for Black Friday?
