No. Last year m1 MacBook Air was $750. If not urgent, I'd keep waiting until M2 air comes out. Will probably see better deals

It was $749 (via student discount) at Best Buy. Only once, one year ago, and for 36 hours.

That's because Macs will go on forever unlike a cheap windows machine which will stop working in a couple of years. MacBook Air and MacBook Pro brought in Aug 2014 and used daily by my kids and they still are going strong (except for battery life which is not great anymore). OTOH, I have changed at least 3 Windows machines for my wife who has refused to move to Mac.

It actually happened multiple times over a span of a few months and I remember because I was tracking the deal and hesitated each time on pulling the trigger. Then it eventually went up to $799 as the routine deal price and the $750 price never came back. Now it's hovering at $830-$850 despite the M2 refresh being right around the corner.

I like my 14 inch m1 Macbook Pro as well as m1 mac mini but what you wrote is pretty much false.

Wife's maxed out 16 inch macbook pro from 2017 is sluggish as hell while my 7 year old MSI laptop on Windows that was half the price of MBP is still running just fine.

There are a ton of great Windows machines that are at least as durable as macs, often better.

My kids are still using a 2011 mac book air with no problems except a battery replacement. No other windows computer going to give you that.

It can be a pain when that happens but a re-install can make a huge difference. With icloud, it's not that bad.
