I said this to an Amazon spokesperson after trying for a half hour to get a link to their phone service. -except it was for k-cups that were expiring in a month. I said "I can't drink 90 cups of coffee in a month." The spokeswoman said they'd immediately send another box of 90 for free and they didn't want the 1st box back. She said they don't want expired food even though it wasn't expiring for a month. She said I could drink it or throw they away. So then I had 90 k-cups expiring in a month and then also 90 k-cups expiring in 5-6 months. I can't see that the policy would be any different for granola. -it's any food item.
BTW this happened twice and I needn't not send anything back. -but reaching for them on the phone is hard. They don't have a phone #. You have to go through hoops with different links.
-also I got this triple berry at the supermarket. Very sour and gross IMO but maybe it was a bad batch.

Ive had a similar experience, but I've recently read about people being banned from amazon for "excessive" returns and would like to avoid buying something that has a high likelihood of me needing to contact them for a return.
Food would be the last thing I purchase from amazon, especially given the stories of people dumpster diving for food behind grocery stores, and then sending it in to amazon to be resold. No way...

That hasn't been my experience. I would say most of the time everything was 6-12 months out. It has happened. But Amazon customer service is great. You complain and they send you a better batch.
