Amazon just recently had a 2x 14TB Red Plus for $400 deal. Then there was a better deal for 16TB Red Pro deal shortly after for same price/per drive I believe.

I realize that was then this is now but seems deals on these are popping up more frequently. Throw in that Newegg is the vendor and I would say to give it more time unless you need this immediately. Just my .02

Very tempting, but last time I ordered drives from Newegg a few months ago, they came in a regular bubble envelope, no boxes or any other padding. One was physically damaged on the outside. Was able to return after showing photos of the packaging and the damage.

Deals pop up all the time - indeed. But $205 for 16TB Red PROs (not Plus) was a HDD deal of the year--easily, and I doubt a deal this good will happen again any time soon. I am so mad my alerts didn't get triggered by that one.

But decent deals will surely be here.

If its going to happen it would be within the next 6 months as merchants have gigantic amounts of inventory as they did not predict the cost increases via food/fuel the public is now spending a lot of excess capital on. THey either will have to sit on all this inventory or get rid of it at bargain prices. A real good indicator is going to be electronics.. in particular TVs. I expect computing to be included in this. Only time will tell.

Fwiw - the 16tb deal was very short lived and early hours of the day - needless to say I missed it by minutes... fingers crossed it comes back!

I'm in the camp of those who will never buy a spinning drive from NewEgg again, due to terrible packaging. SSD from NewEgg, maybe.... but not big desktop drives with moving parts.
