This *might* be a YMMV deal, but the stores in my area all have this tool in stock (inventory ranges from 3 units to 15 units, depending upon location).

Interesting device! I've always wondered why some gripe about drills that don't have a high RPM range. This gadget (and so far only this gadget) would be one case where I would definitely want a drill that can do high RPM.

I like slickerdoodles, too! Smilie I disagree about usefulness - earlier this week I encountered a situtation where this tool could have been helpful (sticky wooden door).

Look at that wood sample in the sales page. It looks like a beaver chewed on it.

Repetitious from other post, first make sure hinges are tight. If you have a disc sander or a DA, try that... touch the edges first and then the flat. If close to the bottom, put something under the door like a cookie sheet or whatever so you don't touch the floor. Then, unlike this tool, you will not have to take the door off the hinges to do the bottom of the latch edge with a much better result. Or, you can buy a decent block plane for $20 or less. Whatever you use, you will have to seal the door with whatever to match existing.

Where this tool could shine is if they used a carbide sanding wheel inside.

It's useless especially if you expect good results, it's more of a "chew" on the wood than shave it off.

Thank you for the expertise. Also, I notice you comment on quite a few of my deal posts, so thanks for that, too. Smilie I'm a non-professional DIY carpenter/painter/repair person. Recently I painted my front door and it turned out really nice! So, anyway, I appreciate your posts.

That is because you seem to be disappointed when nobody comments. Smilie ... I know how this works and while taking my turn with a personal matter, I don't have much else to do. Maybe just me, but nurses do not look like they used to... lol

I have taught many an apprentice and the expert for several architects and insurance companies, but just like I was initially taught by professionals with generosity, happy to help most anyone. There are lots of different opinions and many are correct, but you choose what works best for you. Without photos and what you want to do, we are kind of guessing here.

It is nice to have a win, like your door. It builds confidence that is very important, but probably the most important thing to do with any project, is to build it in your mind from start to finish and forecast what you will need. I use a mind map tool for large projects with various trades involved; that I add options for if this does not work, do this. If this works, do this. It is kind of like thinking of best case/worst case scenario, but prepared... kind of like life itself.

You don't have to have the best of the best tools to turn out quality work. Look at the ornate furniture from the 1700's, or the old buildings with intricate stone carvings and facades all built by hand. The right tools just make life easier and faster production.

Just use a belt or palm sander with low grit and you'll get the same result with a smoother finish
