This 100% worked for me. I did the 36 month conversion 3 years ago. Expired in April 2022. I didn't renew gold or ultimate. Followed all the steps and now I have Ultimate until May 23, 2025. Thanks!

Can you elaborate on how this deal is overpriced? It seems pretty standard for an Xbox game pass ultimate conversion (from gold) deal and it doesn't require a VPN like other similar deals. 5 to 7 dollars per 3 month (or 4 month with the auto renew trick) seems like the normal deal price - this one is $6.79, which is on the high end of a "deal", but no VPN is needed. Maybe the OP should add a price for people that have already used the $1 game pass promo, so $13.99 more.

Am I misunderstanding this deal?

This is actually not unethical at all in terms of Microsoft's system. They are fully aware of this methodology, I can guarantee you that. They elected not to end this, and therefore, it is as they allow it to be. They will change if it they desire.

3 YearsGPU at "Ethical LMAO " $14.99/month = $539.64‬ vs This method for 36months GPU $54.32 + $1 (new) or $14.99 = $55.32 (new customers)/$69.31‬ is a no brainer.

Also, I did the Brazil VPN method 3 years ago (alot of people did) which is expiring in Dec for me. This deal is even cheaper than before.

If you follow the instructions you will be fine. A couple things to note:

1. The $1 upgrade is only for new members, but sometimes ymmv/targeted to returning members. $1 vs $14.99 barely impacts the overall deal, so I would go for it imo

2. The free extra month for turning recurring billing on is also ymmv/targeted, so you may end up needing to buy an extra code or two, but again, imo barely effects the overall deal

In the end you will still get GPU very cheap compared to normal retail price.

Oh, and there is no risk, as long as you are not a current member the things outside of the 2 ymmv items are guaranteed to work.

I'm a bit confused here. It seems like I only get game pass for the first three months of my gold membership not 35 months of game pass.

My question is, I add all the game cards to my library as described in steps 1,2,3 and 4. Which gives me 32 months of Xbox gold membership.

Then when I complete step 5, it takes my entire existing gold membership and upgrades it to game pass? It seems like the last step just adds game pass to my gold account for 3 months of it

Nope, whole thing is converted. You can't have both gold AND game pass unlocked at the same time outside of free trials.

No there are none assuming you are/plan to be a gold subscriber anyway. All those games you love to buy? Guess what? You can totally still buy them, even if they are on Game Pass. Your internet speed is fine, but you will have to watch that cap. Move to ATT ASAP when available, no caps, at least not in my area.

This will work. It isn't unethical. You don't need to wait for gold to expire at all. No risk at all.

Yup, it works. Total out of pocket at the $8.59/card price plus $14.99 to upgrade from basic gamepass to ultimate is $83.71. Next renew date is 3/25/25, so 33 months, must have done something wrong to not get 35, but it would had cost me close to $330 at my current rate of $9.99/month. Was not going to cancel it so thanks for the $245 saving TC.
