The drums are made by Hori and yes they are exactly like the amazon ones. The official HORI Taiko no Tatsujin drums are only sold in japan. So you are buying from a third party reseller who gets their product from Japan.

in Sept 22, 2022, Bandai will officially sell the game and drums in USA. It may be available in Target, walmart, bestbuy, etc. for now, we only know that it is at the bandai official USA store on Sept 22, 2022.

Is this game still fun without using drums and only using joycons? Or is it more like "Don't bother unless you plan on playing with drums"?

This game is still fun with the buttons, but I prefer using the touchscreen. The motion controls are pretty much useless unless you're just goofing around.
