What's the better deal for security and virus protection.

McAfee for 3 devices (for 15 month )for $24.99 or
Norton 360 Deluxe for 3 devices (for 15 month )for $17.99?

Or any other reputable software.

Yes. I remember seeing a tech video last year where someone asked a similar question. They were astonished to learn that the third party software actually made their pc less safe because the code opened up some ports which can be exploited. IIRC, this was Leo Laporte.

From a personal perspective, I spent hours last year working on a pc that was hosed up big time by a well-intentioned family member who installed Mcafee. The computer was newish and ran like slow molasses in winter. Dumping Mcafee and just using Windows Defender brought the pc back to life.
