In for one, my first ebike. Has anyone bought a spare battery to swap out while riding?
The listed range of 45 miles for the Groove seems accurate. I rode for about an hour and a half today adding 5 miles to the odometer and my battery was still fully charged when I got back.

Personally I don't see myself riding long enough to kill the battery without also giving my ass and back a merciful rest from that rock-hard seat. But if you really want to lug a spare I don't see a problem as long as you stay under the weight limit.

As long as it's turned on and set to (at least) pedal assist 1, the throttle will work.

I use it to get started from a dead stop, then start pedaling.

For the battery indicator to work on my Stride, I have to turn off the digital display head unit, then pressing on the battery indicator on the battery, I will get a light that is colored based on the charge level. It is one or the other for me, either I get battery display on the head unit, or on the battery. If the bike is off the battery indicator on the battery works fine for me.
Mine does not work at all. I tried with the bike turned on and off and also after removing the battery pack. It just doesn't light up at all. Will see what Gen3 says about it, I think it is a faulty battery pack, which they can easily swap. But I wonder how such a simple and easy-to-check thing was missed in Quality Control.

To answer both questions (which have been answered before), any mode but zero, and just push down with your thumb.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I think the left pedal is threaded differently and needs to be screwed in the opposite direction...

I ordered a Groove and a Stride. Received them yesterday. Easy enough to put together. Except for the left pedal on both of them. It just won't go on it. The threads do not catch. Is there a trick to it?

Yes, it's reverse threaded (so it doesn't unscrew while you're pedaling). Clearly stated in every installation manual and every video available. Glad you figured it out.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

On this Slickdeals thread and the GEN3 Owners Facebook group, there are lots of people mentioning warped rotors, squeaky brakes etc.
GEN3 released a video last year to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4IYr7LOvrs

Also here are some tips:
Warped front or rear rotor?
Option 1: Buy a new rotor for $8-$10: The Stride front rotor is 180mm, rear is 160mm, if you order on this page, make sure you select 180mm if you need a new front rotor: https://a.co/d/7vTvDZ7

Option 2: Buy a rotor truing tool, I have the Park Tool that I got about 12 years ago, it's great. This is a cheaper version of the tool for only $12: https://a.co/d/5FHhOGu

Squeaky brakes or need more stopping power?
It could be warped rotor (see above) or the brake calipers.
You can replace just the calipers for hydraulic ones for about 25% improvement in stopping power $42: https://a.co/d/4vdDzmf

Maybe these are higher performance at $170? https://a.co/d/ijS5EGD

Lastly, if you don't feel comfortable with bike repair work take it into your local bike shop for a tune-up, they can probably get your stock brakes and rotors working just fine.
