Lol, of course it is. So this way when an otherwise innocent person does something so harmless as a key copy, they can get a felony. But these nutcases bust open community mailboxes or literally steal the entire blue box and the police shrug and snap a few photos. That's a government for the people right there. I wish all I had to teach my kids in the world was not to make a copy of a post office key though. That would make it easier. /endrant

So I put my key in, scanned it, selected the key and a free 2nd key and entered the code which it accepted but it still wanted my credit card... Am I doing something wrong or do I need to go a step further? Was a simple master lock key nothing fancy.

Make sure you check the keys when you get home. This kiosk doesn't work on my door locks, so I just walk over to the key guy in Lowes and do it the old fashioned way.
