I have this. I don't know how exactly to describe this but it keeps reconnecting to my devices over and over and over again even when I haven't plugged something new in. This happened to my other monoprice charger as well.
Ok this is the real reason i love slickdeals, real people, real talking, not fake review accounts. you can ask people that have product what they think, and learn a lot. i wish slickdeals could do review pages of products too and have an entire catolog.... but then if it became big enough they would have fake ones too i guess
Mine does this as well, but I use those multi-tip charging cables (like these [amazon.com]) so I just assumed those were at fault. I'll usually just unplug a device and the others start behaving correctly. I use it for travel so I'm not picky but I could see that getting really annoying. Reviews mention this issue as well.

Oddly enough, this happens with an outlet I have that has built-in USB A and C ports. It's like they don't like coordinating with each other or something.

Also, anytime this charger comes up, I feel the need to mention that there are certain slide-on travel adapters (EU etc) you can find that will slide onto the AC prongs while they are folded.

Actually they have been there for a very long time... as far as I can remember.

Their products are solid, not had issues. Rest is subjective
their products are not solid lol. they have been around a while but usually i always weigh getting a deal versus their shipping. bought a few of their electronics and it is 50/50 what you get

I realize lately there are many accounts promoting their products as well. Sd reviews are still much better than amazon though.
Still equally shilled, just in a a different way. worst part is SD either willfully ignores it or promotes it if they get their beaks wet.

Maybe due to varying power consumption as the devices change, there not be enough current to go around at times.

Does it happen when you have only mobile devices connected?

It happens even when I have one single device connected with no changes in power consumption. It's on off on off on off literally every 3 seconds or so.

It's called a short, either in the device or cable. If it's the cable, get a new one and try it. If it's the block, then get a new one.

It also falls out easily bc it's heavy, so I have to use it with an extension cord.

I always use one of these with wall plug chargers. And comes in handy if a power strip is being used.

On my first trip away with this I experienced some of the disconnects and reconnects. It seemed to happen when I had both my laptop and a phone plugged in charging.

But that is no big deal compared to the loud pop and then smoke coming from it when I was using my laptop with it plugged in. Nothing else plugged in and BAM ... smoke and it is dead.

Clearly I cannot recommend.

Can anyone explain what the difference between this wall charger and a similar 100W one that's also for the same price?

Looks like more wattage per port for the OP's charger vs. the one you linked:

OP's:
C1: 100W
C2: 100W
A1: 30W
A2: 30W
C1+C2: 65W+30W
C1+C2+A1: 45W+30W+18W
C1+C2+A1+A2: 45W+30W+7.5W+7.5W

the one you linked:
USB‑C1: 100W
USB‑C2: 18W
USB‑A1: 12W
USB‑A2: 12W
USB‑C1+USB‑C2: 65W+18W
USB‑A1+USB‑A2: 17W
USB‑C1+USB‑C2+(USB‑A1+USB‑A2): 65W+18W+17W

I've had issues with this abroad despite using it within the input voltage recommendations. Working on getting my third replacement device.

For those of you who don't want a Wall Charger, I saw that there is a 112W 4-Port USB-C Desk Charging Station for $2 more.

I have been buying cables, monitors, headphones and all kinds of other crap from Monoprice for 20 years. I've recommended them to many people over the years and nobody has complained to me about them. They used to be the absolute best place to buy all of your cables and usually had the best prices. They have branched out into a lot of other products in the audio video space and most of them have been solid products because that growth has been gradual.
totally agree, esp the cable comment

now, i usually just use them for tv wall mounts and random things i find on this site

I purchased this exact charger last time it was on the front page and it failed right out of the box. I had an issue where it kept going from charging to not charging on the USB-c port. It was the only port being used and yes, I verified with another charger that it wasn't the cable or my phone. I returned it.
