You actually need 3! One with a grinding disc, one with a flap disc, and one with a cutoff disc. It is so nice to not have to swap so often and be able to set the guards for each use type.

Sometimes slickdeals makes me think, maybe I do need two angle grinders. I can dual wield them while doing safety squints

Great deal! I love that it comes with a hard case!! Most tool manufacturers are forgoing the hard cases and it's frustrating. Tools are much easier to store in hard cases lined up on a shelf IMO.

Sadly, this isn't worth $30.

Instead consider the Wen 7.5 Amp on Amazon, or the Bauer 7 Amp at HF. You can get both under $30 and a lot better quality than this.

Not sure how you come up with that. I have a Metabo grinder, believe it's this same model, an SD deal from a couple of years ago. It puts HF and Bauer to shame for build quality. And I like HF and Bauer.

Same price as Lowes, and Prime, for thos who need it.

Absolutely a worthy deal. I've had mine for a couple years and use it with abandon. Only once has it cut off due to overload/overheat but after switching it off and on again immediately she continued on without hiccup. This is a really sturdy unit ready to take use and abuse. She's not the smallest or the largest but is convenient to one-hand it with gauge metal and robust enough for two handing it on heavy weld/stock removal. I say I'll buy another with this deal as a backup or second-site tool but more than likely will give task dedication to my 4.5ers and holster both.

As for the hard case - While nice, it is a pain for anything other than long storage. It's virtually impossible to close the lid without a fair bit of fiddling to get the cord situated and out of the way of the inner clam shell protrusions.

I'm very tempted to buy this as a 2nd grinder. I currently only have a cordless Makita 5" angle grinder and I regret getting battery powered every time I take on a welding project. I go through 3-4 batteries grinding down my welds.

Can you provide a little more detail on why? I have several old Hitachi tools in my garage that I'd say are good quality and value. Though admittedly, I haven't used one of their angle grinders before.

EDIT: Anyone ever use one of these to cut tile at the toekick, or am I just asking for trouble? I have tile running under all of my cabinets and can only put this retile job off for so long. Wink

Good enough to put a flap disc for sharpening mower blades?
