How to Adjust a Front Derailleur [youtu.be]
How to Adjust a Rear Derailleur [youtu.be]
One main reason MTB/gravel riders upgrade to 1x (one by) drivetrain is to simplify the derailleur adjustments. This bike can be upgraded to 1x later, but would require upgrading the rear hub/wheel. There's nothing wrong with 3x drivetrain on this bike. In my opinion, 1x is more of a quality-of-life upgrade, others might tell you 1x also saves weight.

I received the 16" one finally. Noticed no separate box around the fork (inside of the main box I mean). My friend got the 18" and he said he had small cardboard piece surrounding his fork. So I guess they were packed differently? He did say his main box was open and retaped but bike looked new. His seat was just floating around without any packing so probably scratched it up though.
I haven't had time to assemble yet. So I'm hoping it looks OK once I take it out.
- Box came in mostly intact and looks never been opened nor resealed. Dented areas were well protected from inside. Cardboard over fork, saddle, and everything zip tied over foam. No damages
- Both wheels were out of true especially rear, but not enough for concern. Front disc rotor slightly warped but not rubbing after caliper mount adjustment
- Ordered 18" and received 18". Frame measured exactly 18". This is a departure from Framed Rendal's 15", 17,5", 19", 21" frame sizes. My son who's taller than me also rides an 18" 2020 Schwinn Aluminum Comp from Walmart. When I straddle over the bikes with both feet flat on the ground, top tube just touches my junk equally on both bikes (this 18" bike and my son's 18" Schwinn). So this bike seems true to size
- Seat post is 31.6mm * 350mm as I mentioned before, as opposed to 30.9mm spec for the Framed Rendal. Good stuff!
- Front derailleur was way off and needed complete re-adjustment. Was able to dial it in and was surprised no cross-chain rubbing
- Rear derailleur only needed minor barrel turn and low limit screw adjustment
- Hydraulic brakes felt mostly firm, just a bit spongier than my other budget hydraulic brakes such as Zoom and Shimano (after fully bled). May have some air in it from factory, but not enough to do a full bleed. Disc rotors needed bedding in for full stopping power
- Handlebar measured closer to 720mm, fairly typical for modern budget mountain bikes. I also ride 720mm bars so this one felt familiar and natural
- Stem is sooooo long. As this bike is already on the bigger side for me, having that long stem puts me in superman position on the bike. Luckily for my friend who rides 19" bike, it felt fine for him. I did give him the option to swap out for a shorter stem if he ever felt too stretched out. It's a quick and easy $10 fix for a more comfortable upright riding position
- Grips just suck. Twisting around constantly just as I thought they would. Told my friend this is another quick easy $10 fix for some much better lock-on grips
- There is a kickstand mount welded to the chain stay. Should work with 40mm direct-bolt kickstands. This is yet another departure from Framed Rendal where none of the online pictures showed any kickstand mounts
- Bike is very front heavy, as expected from the heavy Suntour budget coiled fork. Head tube should take 44mm ZS headset for straight steerer tube fork, or EC for tapered. Didn't mention this to my friend as a lighter budget air fork would cost more than this bike
Bike felt solid on test rides. Overall a solid bike for the price. Plenty modern enough for easy cheap upgrade paths (except rear freewheel).- Box came in mostly intact and looks never been opened nor resealed. Dented areas were well protected from inside. Bike felt solid on test rides. Overall a solid bike for the price. Plenty modern enough for easy cheap upgrade paths (except rear freewheel). Also, regarding the kick stand mount, I was hoping that there would indeed be the 40mm mount integrated like I saw on the Trek frame commonly referenced in this thread as comparable, but I don't see this on my bike (16" frame), perhaps different sizes do/don't have the kickstand mounting? I even felt down both sides, and don't feel any place where they might have been painted over, etc. (like this right? https://smile.amazon.co
I also replaced the handlebar stem/neck with a shorter/adjustable one posted earlier in this thread, the stock solid one was indeed pretty long pushing the handlebars straight forward. Ordered this one used too, seems fine, trying to save every dollar I can for this budget bike: https://smile.amazon.co

On the kickstand, yes that 40mm spacing one you linked should work if your bike has the mount. Surprised your 16" is different from my 18". I did take a pic after I assembled the bike to text my friend to come pick it up. I'll see if that mount is visible in the pic. The one you bought looks like a universal center mount kickstand? If so, unless it fits like a glove, it would scratch the hell out of the paint and frame.
On the stem, another option is a shorter non adjustable stem plus a riser bar. I've seen riser bars with > 40mm rise.
